History

Founding and Early Consolidation (2200s)

The Terran Navy was officially founded in the late 2200s, following the unification of Earth and its early colonies. As humanity began expanding into the Cygnus Arm, a powerful and centralized military was needed to secure new territories, protect trade routes, and maintain order among the scattered colonies.

During the Terran-Orronite war, the Navy is what preventes the genocide of the Terrans. At the battle of Proxima B, Captain Jorg Fergunson defended the human colony from a "planet-killer" fleet of the Orronites. This attempt at a human genocide sparked Terran xenophobia. Eventually, the navy got a decisive victory over the Orronite homeworld of Orros. As revenge for the attempt to wipe out Proxima B, Orros was subjected to a relentless antimatter bombardament, and massive amounts of VX gas were released into the planet's atmosphere, thus starting the Orronite Genocide, which almost ended the species.

The First Cygnus Expansion War (2310-2315)

After a pwaceful century, the Terran Realm’s ambitions grew, and the Navy was called upon to spearhead the expansion into the outer reaches of the Cygnus Arm. The First Cygnus Expansion War was the first large-scale interspecies conflict for the Navy, involving battles against a coalitoon led by the Yittians and Ettresians. The expansion started with the Barnard Declaration, which claimed the whole Cygnus Arm as Terran space, giving all species living there the option to either submit as slaves, flee, or die.

The Navy emerged victorious after key engagements such as the Battle of Tau Ceti, during which the whole Yittian navy was wiped out by the largest antimatter bomb to ever be used was deployed, and the Invasion of Thalia Prime, which plunged the planet into a seemingly eternal nuclear winter due to the massive amounts of nuclear weapons used, solidifying its reputation as an unstoppable force. The conflict also pushed technological development, with the introduction of more advanced warships and the establishment of permanent naval bases in the newly annexed territories. Once the war was over, a genocide campaign against the Yittians was conducted, which saw 70% of them killed, and the Ettresian homeworld was left in a nuclear winter, with off-world Ettresians being taken in as domestic slaves.

The Darkstream Conflict and the Stellar Purges (2330-2440)

In the mid-2300s, the Navy faced one of its most challenging internal conflicts during the Darkstream Conflict (2330-2337), a civil war against breakaway human colonies. The rate of expansion had become unsustainable, and a decline in the influence of the Imperial services in the outer colonies made the colonists form distinct identities, and eventually break away. The Navy’s response was brutal and efficient, eventually defeating the Darkstream forces after the costly Battle of the Lagrange Fields, in which a Darkstream ambush massacred an entire fleet and the decisive Raid on Praxis Station, capturing the Darkstream leaders. This conflict reinforced the Navy’s dominance over dissident factions within human space. Furthermore, to make sure that the Darkstream revolt would not inspire others, the planet on which the revolt started, New Terra, was destroyed after a prolonged antimatter and proton bombardment.

Following the Darkstream Conflict, the Navy led the Stellar Purges (2390-2440), a series of genocidal campaigns aimed at eradicating alien species in the Cygnus Arm. This period, driven by the xenophobic policies of the Terran Realm, saw the Navy's reputation shift from a force of expansion to one of systematic extermination. Major campaigns such as the Purge of Epsilon Eridani and the Eradication of the Nyx Cluster decimated entire civilizations, further consolidating the Terran Realm’s power. To make the genocides more efficient, the first planet-killer dreadnaught of the Navy, the Acclamator, was developed. Its two massive quad-tube proton cannons, alongside its slug railguns, antimatter bombs and concentrated Gamma-ray lasers destroyed five planets. At the end, 50 sentient species were wiped out, with the survivors becoming slaves.

Technological Evolution and the Second Cygnus Expansion War (2440-2460)

By the early 2400s, the Navy had undergone significant technological advancements, including the development of Stealth Frigates, Annihilation-class battlecruisers, and advanced carrier systems. These innovations were put to the test during the Second Cygnus Expansion War, which saw the Navy face a more organized and technologically advanced coalition of alien species.

Key battles such as the Battle of Cerulean Nebula, which ended in a stalemate after parts of the nebula ignited, causing massive damage on all sides, and the Siege of Arcadia VII, in which atmosphere-destroying weapons were used for the first time highlighted the Navy's growing reliance on experimental technologies. The conflict also introduced the concept of large-scale, multi-front operations, with the Navy launching Operation Iron Fist, a simultaneous surprise attack on five key systems through undiscovered FTL lanes that shattered the alien resistance and expanded the Realm’s territories. At the end, the Cygnus Arm had fully been conquered, and numerous species were once again subjugated.

Bergingian Slave Rebellion and the Zeta Rebellion (2444-2461)

The Bergingian Slave Rebellion (2460-2461) was the largest slave revolt in Terran history. Over 10 million slaves working in mines and factories revolted, taking control of the ships they helped build and forming a massive fleet, which was quickly heading towards Earth. It was the first time the Lambda Council approved the use of a Decimator-class "Planet-Killer", which boasted a large laser on its frontal side and thousands of high-caliber railguns, proton cannons and antimatter missiles. This single ship destroyed the whole rebel fleet. All the prisoners were then biologically modified to become nothing more then animals, with their brains being implanted with chips which removed their free will, making them the perfect slaves

The Navy was drawn into the Zeta Rebellion (2470-2475), an uprising by Terran colonies in the Zeta Quadrant. Human settlers freed their slaves, desiring an end to the xenophobic policies of the Realm. The rebellion was crushed easily after key naval victories in the Battle of New Mars and Operation Steel Curtain, where the Navy’s strategic use of blockades and orbital bombardments forced the rebels to surrender. The Final Assault on Zeta Prime, in which brand new biological and even neurological weapons were used reaffirmed the Navy's dominance and the Terran government's iron grip over its colonies. Once the rebellion had been crushed, the refugees fled the galaxy in what is now known as the Great Flight, with millions boarding massive colony ships from the time of the early human expansions and leaving the galaxy. Yet, they wouldn't make it far, as their presence attracted KY-777, a species which killed all the refugees, and was now heading for Terra.

The KY-777 Invasion (2476-2490)

The Navy faced its greatest existential threat yet in the form of the KY-777 Invasion, a conflict with the technophobic alien species known as Species KY-777. The initial encounters, such as the Battle of Cygnus Prime and the Fall of Vega Station, resulted in catastrophic defeats, where entire dleets were destroyed, and billions of Terrans killed after planets were destroyed by the KY-777s biological Harvesters. For the second time in history, the Lambda Council approved the use of Decimators, now used to destroy former Terran planets, now used as FOBs by the KY-777.

In 2488, the worst that could be imagined happened. The KY-777 reached the Sol system using [REDACTED]. Above the skies of Earth, thw largest battle in galactic history, involving thousands of ships took place. What turned the tide were the brand new Impaler-class destroyers, which used experimental gravitational weapons, as well as advanced cloaking technology and brand new antimuon cannons to defeat biological "world-ships" of the enemy. By 2490, the KY-777 retreated to the outer rim of the galaxy, artifically setting off supernovas to make entire regions of space uninhabitable. In the end, 50 billion Terrans were killed, dozens of planets and stars gone, but the enemy had been defeated.
