Proposal Overview:

The resolution criticizes the practice of "embassy collecting," where regions amass embassies for fun. It highlights the many negative sides of this behaviour, such as overwhelming new regions with requests, fostering weak diplomatic ties, and enabling extremist regions to form embassies. Acknowledging that some collectors act respectfully, the resolution condemns the majority for their unethical practices and aims to discourage further embassy collecting, describing these collectors as a persistent nuisance to NS.
Ministry Analysis:

While embassy collection is completely allowed within NS, it has become something similar to raiding, sharing the “for goofs” aspect. And as much as NationStates is a comedy site, it is also a serious, simulating site. Because of this, and the fact that embassies are usually tokens of trust and friendship between the signatories, embassy collection is a futile, spammy activity, that does not contribute to advancing any region. Collection does not foster regional growth, in a cultural or political sense, rather chipping away at the credibility and level of trust required for an embassy, which are especially useful for smaller regions. For these reasons, the Ministry recommends a FOR vote on this proposal.
