Emporer Adrian bin Zayed

adrian bin zayed of the house of bernadotte-hohenzollern was the emporer of the Aryan Empire between 1930 - 1946 which is the predecessor of Folkvanger. He was the great-grandfather of Kween Josephine and is noted to be the second most popular ruler of the realm before the Kween. Adrian was known as the People's King. Kween Josephine cited adrian as a significant influence over her politics and sense of humanitarianism.

adrian was born to emporer gustav and queen-consort ingrid latifah on 1900. he had an invalid older brother by the name of markus. he lived in the lap of luxury with servants catering to his every need and his servants did everything for him such as giving him baths and putting food into his mouth. However, while at school, adrian attained a notorious reputation as a bully to other kids with an inflated sense of pride due to his royal heritage by giving them wedgies and bullying them for their lunch money to compensate for his pudgy build. but also because his father had beaten him to instill strict discipline. but there was one girl whom he liked and when asked why her shoes were shabby and why she brought so few food during lunch hours, she stated that her family couldn't afford more. Anonymously, adrian gave her new pairs of shoes that she always wanted and loaves of bread in her locker.

this made him conscious of his privilege at a young age and his parents noted that he became resistant of being treated differently from the rest and refused to have his maids do all the work for him. Nonetheless, he still maintained a sadistic streak in continuing to bully the boys for lunch money only tempered by few empathy and he would join the royal folkvangerian army in 1918 right around the end of the Great War. He fought in the Danish campaign in defending Folkvangerian land from the Kaiser's forces which opened his eyes to the horrors of war. Realities would struck him as his unit was sent to assist white forces in Russia during its civil war. Sights of pogroms, executions, starvation, and many more mellowed him and he begun a journey of self-introspection as he walked through the ruins of ukraine. his royal priveleges, folkvanger's place in the world, nationalism, fighting for one's ideal, and the fragility of man were thoughts that filled his mind.

However he would be withdrawn back home from the frontlines much to his protests as he had been directly fighting the Bolsheviks together with his unit and couldn't bear to part ways with the locals of ukraine whom his unit had been defending. In 1921, his invalid brother markus ascended the throne after his father's death with his mother ingrid as regent. However de facto they were puppets of the Imperial Aryan military. Adrian played a small role throughout the years and endeavored in increasing the welfare of folkvangerians through establishing charity organizations such as the royal welfare fund. When news of a mass Ukraine famine spread throughout Europe, adrian snuck through ukraine from romania to gain intel on the situation and helped the league of nations in sending humanitarian assistance to soviet-controlled ukraine. In uKraine, he met the love of his life Svetlana and had her entire family transported to Malmo, Folkvanger.

Throughout the 1920s, Folkvanger was ruled as a fascist dictatorship with an imperial death cult in which the country prided itself as Hyperborea and of being Thvlean. The royal family were seen as Gods on Earth and disobeying them meant death but the military used the latter justification to kill whomever they disliked. In 1930, his brother would mysteriously die when his body was found in a cold river. the government under chancellor Ernst Lindholmst blamed it on incompetent royal caretakers and had them executed. adrian cried when he saw the body as he was the last link to his family even though he couldn't hold a basic conversation. as markus did not bear an heir, adrian reluctantly took up the mantle as emporer of the aryan empire with a lavish ceremony. even though he preferred a simple one; he went offscript during his speech by promising liberty and freedom to folkvangerians.

The military controlled matters behind the scenes and even though folkvanger was a parliamentary democracy on the surface, the imperial army called the shots and often acted independent of their orders. if a chancellor goes against their interests then they would've been assassinated but they've found their lackey in Chancellor Ernst Lindholmst who was a fascist ultranationalist himself. It was a dreadful period as an eugenics program in weeding out non-blonde haired people and ethnic minorities were underway with the military exerting totalitarian control over its society and clamping down on freedom of expression. Adrian saw this state of affairs as unideal as power was not in the people and that the state is conducting silent genocide on its sami minority as well as imprisoning millions of folkvangerians.

Concurrently Adolf Hitler and the nazi party rose to power in 1933, and Folkvanger under Ernst established good relations with them as fellow Aryans. but his marriage to svetlana and having birthed two ukrainian children was a cudgel to such plans. they were not royalty due to their commoner slav admixture but adrian insisted that they were. Nevertheless, without his input, Folkvanger became aligned to Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy by 1936. When Adolf Hitler came to visit Malmo, the royal family did not greet him instead the Chancellor and military generals did. Adrian was concerned that Ernst is leading them to a deathtrap with an Axis alliance and that he saw Hitler as devoid of warmth, tradition, and humanity and sought to sabotage close relations.

On the surface, relations between the Chancellor and emporer Adrian seemed close for the media lenses but in actuality, they despised each other's presence. adrian saw ernst as a fascist stooge while ernst saw adrian as a disgrace for the century-long folkvangerian royal tradition. Their major disagreement would come when refugees fleeing from nazi germany arrived in folkvanger's shores. many nations including britain turned them away but adrian exhorted the government to accept them. when ernst refused, adrian threatened to abdicate in which they reluctantly agreed to adrian's demands and accepted thousands of them. Afterwards, Adrian visited their temporary encampment to check on their conditions.

Throughout the years, Adrian sought to blunt the worst of the fascists and militarists by signing royal pardons, protecting certain dissenters from arrests, and vouching for certain pieces of media criticizing the government or national values to be allowed to circulate. the military, already tired of adrian, conspired to assassinate him. in 1938, the royal car was blown up but adrian was not in it but rather svetlana and his two children were. Adrian was lost for words when it occurred and he spiraled down to a life of hedonism. Eating extravagant dishes to cope with their loss and during this time he grew closer to his royal maid, Bertha, and wed her on 1941 in which they would birth one child - Dagmar.

When WWII started, the entire military wanted Folkvanger to join on the side of the Axis. But Adrian vetoed the decision and rallied the populace to resist participation in the war. He outlined that Germany's industrial base and manpower would be insufficient to wage war in the long term, that soviet military intervention would be inevitable, and that folkvanger should not dishonor itself by aligning with fascist upstarts. This only increased resentment amongst certain interest groups looking to profit from the war but adrian stood his ground throughout those years while the army continually became annoyed by the increasing resistance of the monarch. but this presented a dilemma in itself for adrian. if he did nothing as it is within the constitution then he would be complicit but if he exerted his royal prerogatives then it would set a terrible precedent in the future for monarchs to meddle in politics. Nonetheless, he tried to put an end to the Sami sterilization campaign with a decree but the military still continued anyway. He also steadfastly refused to implement Nazi racial laws although 'bouts of discrimination seeped in outside of his control.

Although neutral, Folkvanger was forced to sell steel to Germany yet refused to allow their troops to move through their territory. Many who wanted to escape the Axis menace found safe harbors in Folkvanger under the emporer's watch. During this time, he cut back on hedonism but couldn't help to eat more meals in which his physical health worsened and he became obese. forced to sit on a wheelchair. During the harsh time of war, measures of austerity and rationing were instated but during christmas, adrian led the initiative in granting gifts to folkvangerian children as well as children of refugees which is unexpected for a folkvangerian monarch to directly interact with the people. He would also snub Nazi officials many times by refusing to salute them or even meet them - leaving his chauffeur to attend to them.

Adrian was proven correct in his assessment as the tide of the war turned against germany. a military coup and mutiny would arise from pro-democratic elements in the army against chancellor ernst as well as the militarist generals on 1944. however, the coup had been beaten back and the popular revolt did not materialize as the army had been beating the people into submission. there has been a mole among them. when the coup was ongoing, adrian took the stage and held a speech in parliament in which he warned of Folkvangerian exceptionalism, the growing military-industrial complex, interventionist warhawks in the foreign service, native unrest and exploitation, and the weight of corproations in folkvanger while the army were pounding on parliamentary doors.

Due to his active support of the coup, he was arrested and put into house arrest yet they kept him around as an even more powerless monarch for two years. during house arrest, he wrote a letter known as the "Adrian Letter" in which he outlined his support for a constitutional monarchy, actual parliamentary democracy, a large yet defensive military, humanitarian foreign policy, decolonization, same sex marriage, women's rights among many others that would later influence the Kween. However, one man could not stem the tide of history as Folkvanger continues on a death march towards militarism, imperialism and ethnic-supremacy with each and every successive government. However he would be subjected to subtle torture such as forced feeding of mrbeast-ksi's lunchables to the point he weighted 100000000000000000000000000000000000000 kg whilst forced to listen to the thick of it by ksi on loop.

Adrian died on 1946 in his estate in Stockholm at the age of 46. He had died alone with his body found hung by bedsheets and the military struggled in relocating his body due to the sheer weight of it. A fascist junta backed by America continued to rule Folkvanger for many decades with his cousin, Thorvald, succeeding him as emperor. Many Folkvangerians would rediscover the Adrian Letter, smuggled out of the estate, and rallied around then-princess Josephine to realize his vision of a free democratic progressive Folkvanger as the contents of the speech were read out lout. the Aryan Empire would be replaced in 2016. However, along the way, his ideals became distorted by his followers as they overcompensate for the crimes of the aryan empire and Folkvanger fell to the same pitfalls as it did before with their wars of bringing the torch of liberty outside of its borders. But one sentence would remain, emblematic of his ideals. In his last words he spoke "To live, laugh, and love"
