TBH To Lose Final Badge
After having their first Condemnation repealed, The Black Hawks now stand to lose what was their second Condemn, following a Security Council proposal submitted by Westinor and backed by the Defender faction at large in the World Assembly. Should the proposal pass, The Black Hawks would lose the prestige they've had for over 13 years, with the condemnation passing back in 2011. As of now, the vote sits at 7 thousand for compared to 4 thousand votes against. With less than 10 hours to go, this can be regarded as quite a safe margin. The campaign to repeal TBH's two condemns started with an initiative announced by President UPC in his speech 'Damnatio Memoriae'. It is unclear as of yet whether any additional steps are to follow should the second repeal proposal pass.
NPO Announces New FA Representation
Belleroph aka Callisto has been appointed Senator of Diplomatic Affairs of the New Pacific Order, Empress Xoriet announces in a September 26 update. Callisto will be replacing the outgoing Senator Syberis, who served in the office for two years. Xoriet further states that: "We of course expect that [the] transition from Syberis to Callisto in terms of primary point of contact will be adhered to once everything is in place there. A grace period of a month for our allies and others to become accustomed to the change in officials will be allowed so as to best adjust all parties to this new development."
The EBC congratulates and wishes Callisto good luck in her new role.
TNP's New Cabinet
The North Pacific, following their Delegate elections last week, have since announced their cabinet picks. Delegate Picairn has chosen the following slate of ministers to represent his administration for the term:
Minister of Defense: Dotopolis
Minister of Foreign Affairs: Chipoli
Minister of World Assembly Affairs: Vapid
Minister of Culture: Halsoni
Minister of Communications: Kaschovia
Minister of Home Affairs: United States of Dictators
The North Pacific further reports that: "There is a palpable excitement in the air in these first few days after the election. Most of the newly-appointed ministers have already posted opening remarks and roll calls, spurring activity in their own areas as the executive looks to start the term off with a lot of momentum. Of course, the question is whether or not that energy can be maintained over the next few weeks. There are still significant challenges in the coming months as the region sets its course into the future, but with the new Delegate at the helm, there is definitely a sense that those challenges can be overcome."
The EBC wishes the new ministers the best of luck in the execution of their duties.
The Wellspring Abandons the Front
The Wellspring has opted to transition to a Stronghold, with the transition set to happen at the next major update. 9006, Delegate of the region, reports that: "being a frontier allows for someone to illegitimately take over the delegate seat and cause havoc. Switching temporarily to a stronghold, regardless of how long, allows us to better equip the [regional leader in] our constitutional monarchy." TW is not the first Frontier to move to Stronghold status out of security concerns, with The Amaranthine Isles, which was The Order of the Grey Wardens' Frontier and Atlanticana being notable prior cases.
Sopo Returns to the Senate
Ambrella aka Sopo has won the last Senate by-election which followed the resignation of former Senator Prov. Sopo won ~60% of the vote against opponent Olde Delaware Jr. Sopo is now occupying one of five seats in the 96th Senate. Following his victory, Senator Sopo posted in his campaign thread, saying: "Thanks to all who voted for me despite the last-minute campaign, and thanks to OD for stepping up to the plate. I look forward to continue earning your support through the rest of the term."
World Assembly
The proposal currently up for vote in the General Assembly is titled "International Criminal Apprehension Accord." The proposal aims to erect an organisation to coordinate law enforcement response between nations. The Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends a vote against the proposal, stating: "While this is a promising initiative, the current issues give too much power to the [proposed organisation] without any correctional body being allocated for the oversight for the [proposed organisation]. Therefore the ministry urges a resubmission with revisions to better respect national laws and autonomy."
The Security Council is currently handling the previously discussed TBH Condemnation Repeal proposal, for which the MoWAA recommends a vote for, stating: "The resolution this proposal seeks to repeal, [SC#52], is completely burdened by its myriad errors and misinformation, failing to even stand up to other resolutions from its time." and "This Condemnation does not stop the Black Hawks from destroying communities, it enables them - and in doing so, it poses a threat to regions like Europeia."
