Welcome to Roses Without Thorns! We are so glad that you decided to settle in our little but active region. Roses Without Thorns was founded on Sunday, December 31, 2023, at New Year's Eve! We, as a region, are very new, but that doesn't mean a newborn baby can't learn some tricks. Find out a little more about us and the game below!

NationStates is a nation-simulation game where players manage their own countries, making decisions that affect their laws, statistics, and rankings. Players can band together in regions, such as "Roses Without Thorns," to interact and collaborate with other nations. Additionally, players can participate in the World Assembly, a UN-like organization where they can vote on resolutions and influence the direction of global policies.

There are many ways to gain relevance within NS: You can mine cards and win challenges using your stats; write resolutions within the WA; or actively participate in the development of a region. In some regions there is a mechanic of attack and defense, but we stay out of the eternal interregional conflict and the gameplay of raiders and defenders. Peace and neutrality reign!

We are called Roses Without Thorns because the region is like a rose, which symbolizes gratitude, admiration, joy, etc., which is what the region embodies! Roses Without Thorns is a democratic region, where we hold elections frequently. Keep an eye out for opportunities and seek to get elected! Currently, all positions are eligible by direct vote, which are: Gold Officers, Silver Officers, Bronze Officers, and the Minister of Roleplay.

Roses Without Thorns grants and commits freedoms for individual nations because we're nice. We also don't have a governor! All powers go to the WA delegate. What’s so awesome about that is that if the WA delegate is ineffective at taking care of the region, you and your fellow region friends can overthrow or impeach the WA delegate by endorsing someone who seems to do a better job.

In NS, many regions employ roleplay, where players create stories and events for their nations. It's like writing a book or script, alongside several people. RP is a beautiful part of our region, you can create characters, make alliances, simulate wars, and much more! Yes, some people may not know much about RP (I am one of them), but the roleplay doesn't have to be extreme. Just don't make it like 10 words, please!
