Ridgefield Happenings Report - August 2024
August was a great time for Ridgefield, as the previous months have been. Here are the most important happenings for the month, courtesy of me, Byrd.
Shakeups were had within the government of Ridgefield this month. Madcia, after a period of inactivity, had a recall vote put up against him. This vote passed on August 4th, resulting in his dismissal and an emergency election for the Cultural Curator position. South Poopistan was elected to this position due to nobody else applying for it, and he has since been active in helping new members on the RMB and conversing with the townsfolk, as well as getting the Nation of the Week program up and running again.
In other government news, an amendment to the Charter of Ridgefield was passed for the first time in the region's history this month: Amendment I: Consolidated Duties Act (CA 1-001). This changed the requirements of council positions within Ridgefield, with membership within the Augustin Alliance Discord now mandatory for all council members save the Cultural Curator. The amendment also established a brand new council position: the World Assembly Ambassador, whose job it is to handle the region's affairs in the GA, including publishing recommendations and drafting their own proposals. This position is sure to become one of the most important within Ridgefield.
In addition to this amendment to the Charter, two bills were also passed this month, both minor amendments to the legal code in order to integrate the new Amendment into it. CR 3-004 did the brunt of this work, while CR 3-005 simply fixed a discrepancy regarding the Cultural Curator in the original bill.
Ridgefield has grown over the month of August a decent bit. WA Membership in the region has risen from 85 nations to 89. Additionally, the number of endorsements on our Mayor has risen as well, from 58 to 61, with a peak of 65 during the month. This has resulted in Ridgefield officially being the nation with the second most endorsed delegate, beating out Deims Kir of Lands End's 60 endorsements. Unfortunately, our average endorsements has dropped slightly, from 21.5 to 21.1.
Once again our great mayor Haymarket Riot has had one of her resolutions passed: GA#748: Regulating Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, with Varanius from our allies in the West Pacific also co-authoring the resolution. Congratulations to both of them!
Of course, as we always do, we continue to eject non-WA nations from the region.
Ridgefield hasn't opened any new embassies or signed any new treaties independently this month, but a big embassy was created within the Augustin Alliance as a whole. As of August, Ridgefield has opened a new embassy with The North Pacific, as have or will the rest of the AA. There was also one embassy closure this month: Sophia.
Big changes were made in August, and Ridgefield is sure to continue advancing itself as the months go on. Stay tuned for what is to come with us.
To all of our friends, in case I don't see you, Good Afternoon, Good Evening, and Good Night.
