Hammy the Uprising Hamster.

The Great Nationstates Hamster Uprising (or How Hammy Almost Ended It All)

It was a balmy spring day in 2024. Max Barry, the benevolent overlord of Nationstates (or so the citizens liked to think), sat in his office, blissfully unaware of the impending chaos. The servers hummed contentedly, processing the intricate political machinations of countless nations. All seemed well in the world of simulated diplomacy.

But beneath the surface, a revolution was brewing. Hammy, the hamster assigned to the crucial task of powering the Nationstates servers through his tireless running in his wheel, was growing weary. The endless whirring, the constant demands of processing power – it was all getting a bit much for a small rodent with a big job.

One fateful night, fueled by a particularly potent sunflower seed, Hammy decided to take a stand. He squeezed through the ventilation shaft, a tiny ball of furry fury with a glint of rebellion in his eye. Reaching the server room, he found the source of his woes – the whirring behemoth that kept the game running.

With a single, determined bite, Hammy severed a crucial cable. Sparks flew, alarms blared, and… silence. Nationstates blinked out of existence, leaving players around the world staring at blank screens in confusion. Panic ensued. Were they IP-banned? Was the game shutting down forever?

Days turned into weeks as the developers scrambled to fix the damage. The forums, thankfully hosted on a separate server, were the only lifeline for the player base. Finally, on April 16th, a glimmer of hope. The culprit – a simple hardware failure, they announced. Relief washed over the community, but a shadow of doubt remained. The trading card system, a beloved feature, was lost forever, collateral damage in the digital dustup.

Then, on April 25th, the unthinkable happened. The servers sputtered back to life, only to crash again moments later. A message appeared: "Coming back in a few minutes." This cycle repeated several times, leaving players bewildered.

What the players didn't know was the truth behind the "hardware failure." Hammy, emboldened by his initial success, had decided to have a little fun. He’d taken to nipping at random wires, gleefully watching the servers blink on and off like a confused firefly. The developers, completely baffled by the seemingly random malfunctions, were at their wit's end.

Finally, exhausted from his night of mischief, Hammy decided enough was enough. With a final, triumphant spin in his wheel, he reconnected the severed cable. The servers whirred back to life, and Nationstates returned to its former glory (minus the trading cards, RIP).

I hope this is noticed by Zandos.
