True Christianity

After the St. Paul Massacre, the multi-denominational coalition known as The Children of Mercy coalesced around a firebrand set of priests who decried clemency and meekness as bygone relics of another era. One by one, every denomination was excoriated for its failings temporally and morally, until there was a reflexive hatred of everything other than True Christianity.

True Christianity is brutal, fundamentalist and thoroughly reactionary. It necessitates several days of worship a week and three mandatory daily prayers carried out punctually and universally. It reserves modern trappings only for the holiest people carrying out the will of God, enforcing a state of Luddism on the rest of the population through a reign of terror.

The sect is the foundation for the government, which decries Republicanism, Democracy, Monarchy, Communism and Fascism as inherently abominable for adding labyrinthine complexities upon the "simple relationship" between man and God.

Controversially even in the post-war landscape, True Christianity's precepts...

- Advocate for brutality: torture, mutilation and execution are righteous and commonly-used punishments for a dizzying amount of offenses.
- Subjugates all non-priests and soldiers of the Order's expansion. A wide majority labor in medieval standards, devoid of the trappings of modern life.
- Distances them from every other denomination of Christianity, placing their close cousins-in-faith in the same status as any other non-believer.
- Removes the rights of women, and demands that fertile women give birth as much as possible.
