ADA Victorious in Alamgirpur Election
The Alamgirpur Democratic Alliance, led by the centrist Coalition of Independents, won yesterday's directorial and legislative elections in the eastern Alamgirpur Province, unseating the incumbent Progressive government. Netting 39% of the vote, the ADA, led by the Coalition's Turva Povada, won the first-past-the-post race for Provincial Director as well as a majority of 12 out of the 20 seats in the Provincial Assembly of Elders. The Progressive-led Alamgirpur Forward coalition, headed by the incumbent Provincial Director Mohan Gupta, trailed with 34% of the vote, winning the remaining 8 seats. The Workers' Revolutionary – Originalist alliance came in third with 27% of the vote, failing to win any seats. The results were seen as a blow to the national-level Progressive government, which was widely expected to win the election. The recently-formed right-wing New Liberals were also perceived as having performed poorly, winning only two seats, in spite of their conspicuous focus on Alamgirpur to the exclusion of other provinces.

Ethnic Minority Coalition Formed
Three parties representing ethnic minorities – the centrist Kot-diji Party, representing Sikhs, the conservative Hindustani People's Front, and the Islamic-democratic Pashtunwali Movement for Justice – have decided to contest the Vernal Equinox elections as a joint list, designating a single candidate for each constituency. "The alliance's seat-sharing program will make no practical difference, as each party contests elections in a different province," commented Dholavira Signboard op-editor Abhi Prayam-Roberts, "but it puts the parties in a strengthened position should they opt to seek an alliance with a larger faction, probably the Coalition of Independents."

Rann of Kutch Airport Opened
The new Rann of Kutch International Airport was opened yesterday, with planned services to destinations around Mel-akkam and the world. Serving both Dholavira and Lothal, Mel-akkam's third and fourth largest cities, respectively, the airport is expected to become one of the busiest in the country. Leader of the Government Nirtyam Am'mayi hailed the opening as a "major step forward in our renewal of Mel-akkam's infrastructure", and also announced that a public vote on the airport's name would be held, but that possible names will be limited to those of former Honoured Elders, so that, in Am'mayi's words "you don't call it Airy McAirportface".
