New Right-Leaning Party Formed
Two commissioners and four provincial assembly members, including Regional Development Rapporteur Prantiyata Sthanikata, have cut ties with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) to form a new right-wing party, tentatively named the “New Liberals”. In her statement announcing the party’s formation, Sthanikata blasted the LDP for its “cooperation with the Marxist Progressives” in a coalition that she claimed is “dedicated to communist and anti-liberal policies”. LDP leader Vyaparam Vedan criticised the defectors, urging them to resign and contest by-elections.

Jet Ski Crash Causes Explosion at Lothal
A jet skier crashed his watercraft into the docks at Lothal Harbour, causing the explosion of a gas depot as well as several injuries and at least one death. Authorities have not commented on possible causes for the incident.
