Royal Yamaichi Starfarer Agency (RYSA)
The Royal Yamaichi Starfarer Agency (RYSA) is the space agency of Yamaichi. Legally, it is a self-governing body under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Education and Technology. Its statutory purpose originally included aerospace research expressly for peaceful use.
RYSA is responsible for research, technology development and launch of satellites into orbit, and is involved in many more advanced missions such as asteroid exploration and possible human exploration of the Moon.
Astronomy, solar and terrestrial observation
One of the first core tasks of the RYSA was astronomical observation through X-ray and infrared astronomy as well as solar observation. Another core task is terrestrial observation. On the one hand, this concerns direct observation of the terrestrial surface, especially to help with natural disasters, and on the other hand, observation of the climate.
Satellites and launch vehicles
Routine tasks now include the development and launch of satellites for research, communication and navigation. Separate launch systems were developed for this purpose, including the successful medium-heavy launch vehicle YIII "Hatamoto-Chi". The development of the YIII was carried out together with the partner Mitsubichi Defense.
Interplanetary missions
Interplanetary missions include the successful deployment of probes to passing comets and asteroids. In addition, a successful lunar orbiter was launched, which orbited the moon from 2007 to 2009 before it was planned to crash.
Future projects include an unmanned lunar landing mission and the deployment of a rover or robot (including aerial drones) on the surface of the moon, the launch of a space telescope, and participation in possible international space stations.
