Elections 2034: what is at stake?
By Dolores Ávila | CORALES, ATROCHA

Prime Minister Astrid Bethancourt called a general election in June 2034, amid the mass protests of July 2033. The Prime Minister's Office spoke with the leader of the Opposition and the heads of political parties on the November 13 session , and all the leaders of Parliament consented to the call being carried out. On November 14, the Minister of the Interior, Valerio Nárvaez, gave the Consuls the convocation decree, which they signed and sanctioned. Citizens now have the power in their hands to change the political paranoma of the nation. The reason for the elections is to confirm the future of the National Party, the party in power. These elections are also seen as necessary for the organization and representation of the new provinces, both western and eastern.
The center-right National Party has chosen as its candidate to be head of the executive: Rodrigo Sosa, current Minister of Foreign Affairs. Sosa is the best and most representative figure in the government, having led Atrocha out of diplomatic stagnation and begun the era of expansion. Sosa maintains great political and popular support, more than any other government figure.

Astrid Bethancourt together with Josefo Garcés de Iturralde (major consul) and Javier Elizondo (minor consul) announced the call for elections.

However, Lidia Vélez, leader of the opposition and president of the Social Party, imposes herself as strong competition against the star candidate of the ruling coalition. Vélez was recognized for her intense debates against Bethancourt in legislative sessions, and her transparency policies when she took over the Countergovernment. But what is at stake in Atrocha with these elections?
First, the new distribution of seats: 175, based on the method of equal proportions with the population priority index. Each province will have at least one seat for representation. The only parts of Atrocha without representation will be the Territories, which, since they are not constituted as Provinces, do not have the same status. These territories are Goya, which includes the islands of Quilón and Zocodever in Nonscio, and Alta Viconia, located in the north of the island of Vikonna. The provinces of Somé and Playabán, also in Nonscio, will have political representation in Parliament.
Whoever obtains the absolute majority in the chamber (88 seats) will have the government. Other political groups, such as the Democrats and the Labor Union, supported the National Party and the Social Party, respectively, without proposing representatives to the Prime Minister. The Nationalist Party of Atrocha and the Parliamentary Republican Party are expected to announce the same in the coming months. But not only the political control of the central government is disputed, but also the provincial governorships. Having great autonomy, the provinces directly manage regional resources for the metropolis. The most disputed governorates are Salvadora (main nuclear and mining generator), Lajonia (main industrial province), Valle del Noria (main fruit producer) and Mar Grande (main port point). The capital, Corales, is also contested by political groups: as a rule, the capital is won by the opposition party to the one in government. Other important cities to paint the map red (Social) and blue (National) are Graia, Prata, Campolérida de Alao, Seaburgo, Maratao, Montalba and Calómagovia.

The Vikonna Island Company: what is it and what is it looking for?

The Vikonna Island Company, as we know it, was created on October 28, 2033 at the Business and Industry Records Office, and recognized as such by the Ministry of Commerce on October 30. It was formed by the various shipping, agricultural, industrial and mining companies of Atrocha who wanted to invest in the island of Vikonna, a territory that had been sovereign but whose status collapsed in on itself. The company Consorcio Alta Viconia, an associated company that began exploration and exploitation work in the territory of Alta Viconia, was the driving force behind the creation of another associated company to exploit the south of the Atrochan territory. The lands were abandoned en masse by the Vikonnans, who sold them at low prices to local companies and people who were interested in the land, mainly the land acquisition agencies for industries.
According to the company's founding charter, the Vikonna Island Company was founded by 12 companies and the assets of the State of Atrocha, the capital gains of which will be shared between each party. Thus, after its entry into the Corales Stock Exchange, the distribution of the Company's assets was distributed as follows:
  • Consorcio Alta Viconia, C.A.: 21%

  • Atrocha Worldwide Maritime Shipping, Inc.: 12%

  • Omnimar Navieras, S.A.: 11%

  • Ingenios Muñoz-Paredes, S.A.: 8%

  • Atrocha Livestock and Poultry Farmers Society: 6%

  • Petróleos Rigobar, S.A.: 6%

  • TerraArgenta Mining: 6%

  • Atrocha State: 5%

  • Papadaki Shipping, Inc.: 5%

  • Alfatex, S.A.: 4%

  • Eastern Atrocha Women's Society: 3%

  • Seaburgo International Credit Bank: 3%

  • Other mining and industrial companies: 6%

  • Private investments: 4%

The CEO of the company is Vicente del Pont, who in his name purchased up to 15 thousand hectares of land that he transferred to the management of the Vikonna Island Company. The Company has acquired 59% of the lands of the former Vikonnan state, through direct and indirect purchase processes. According to his mission, the Company seeks to establish a better land acquisition system, as well as "the best operation and exploitation of lands." Rumors that it is a land rich in rare earths, metals and salt have attracted industries and mining, while the northeast of the island is said to be more suitable for agriculture. The Vikonna Island Company already has its own political pressure group in Gran Alcázar, which achieved the long-awaited purchase of the Rajyamian strip of southwestern Vikonna. Likewise, to seek international favor, the Company has taken on the task of building Port Greenfields, a port for the nation of Flor-Aussia.
Due to the great expectation and publicity, as well as the previous experience of Alta Viconia's success, many citizens have begun to purchase small shares in the Company.

Piracy and storms: the specter of recession is approaching
By Juan Antonio Smith-Cortés | ALAMEDA, FITZGUILLÉN

Piracy and plunder is an evil that has stalked the seas of Valsora and has seriously affected shipping companies, including those of Atrocha. The trade routes through Aislada and the Menotius Ocean are the most affected, and to put an end to the million-dollar losses, the Government of Atrocha wanted to act to eliminate this threat. Atrocha contacted the government of New Westmore and Rajyam to create an institution capable of eliminating the threat of piracy, the Intermaritime Commercial Security Office, the ICSO. Despite the discretion of its name, the ICSO is an institution for the defensive security of ships against pirate organizations, as well as the pursuit of criminals, a warning network against attacks and direct attacks on the high seas against these criminal organizations.

Gradually, more countries participated in the ICSO: West Pangasinan, Malvekia, the Omonian federacy and Myehn. All of them contributed military equipment and more than two thousand troops to eliminate these criminals. The ICSO is expected to reduce attacks significantly and improve the state of the Valsora economy. And, since the massive collapses of nations throughout Valsora, economic experts have announced that a "great recession" is approaching. It is said that the more the trade circle closes, the fewer export benefits there will be, and import-dependent nations could be affected. Several investments that Atrocha has made in other countries have resulted in losses of money, and the agreed imports simply did not reach the ports of Seaburgo and Graia. All this is seen as something to be feared, since the production engines of the Valsora giants are reduced. Romanoddle Republic and The Lafari, the two most important countries in the Atrochan economy, have practically become the only investment actors in the economy. Some nations don't even want to trade with anyone. And in this field of recession, the underground economy, smuggling and the black market begin to flourish.

We have received news of Hurricane Scylla making landfall in Leiland and Malvekia, which will cause flooding and devastation. Atrocha, through his embassy in Sol Malvekia and his consulate in Neumarin, warned resident Atrochans to seek refuge and heed Malvekian cautionary signals. As soon as the hurricane ends, Atrocha will be willing to move humanitarian equipment to the friendly country. Elsewhere in Nonscio, Animatovia has suffered a storm of radioactive and toxic elements, possibly caused by chemical waste mismanaged by the ancient Archaean nation, whose gases mixed with the area's climate and caused a strange effect in the Tovian air, causing great mortality. In the midst of insurrections and political crises, plus the storm, Animatovia fell on itself, and an international alert was given to rescue nearly 14 thousand Tovians who were still alive. Atrocha sent a naval rescue team to mobilize them to a refugee camp called Nuevo Tovar, 21 kilometers east of the agrarian city of Margal, in the new province of Campiñas.

OPINION
Live in the eastern lands
By Zacarías de Vergara, farmer.
It's been a month since I arrived in the Eastern Provinces. I am from Hostal de Monte Bendito, in the metropolitan province, and my crops were not good. However, I saw an advertisement on social media from the Eastern Atrocha Women's Society, announcing that they were going to take 500 people free of charge from the port of Zamora to Campiñas. They said they were fertile and good lands for farming. I applied and finally, I got here, and it has gone well for me, planting peppers, which has guaranteed me my initial income, to later plant pumpkins. I am happy, and the commissioners protect us well. I think it is good that those of us who want a better life than on the metropolitan island can get here, where there is tranquility and prosperity. My farm neighbors have created a town, which we have called Rosarito. In Rosarito we have our own chapel, and we wrote to the Ministry of Health to build us a clinic, which we hope will be ready before Three Kings Day. This is the best Atrocha could do, I only have good opinions of these lands.
