Sabotage Delays Election Results
The Mel-akkam Electoral Directorate has announced that the results of the Autumnal Equinox election, already delayed by two days, will be held up for another day at least, as several incidents of sabotage resulted in the destruction of nearly a thousand ballots. An investigation is ongoing into the acts of sabotage, which the Directorate described as an “attention-seeking stunt”.

Progressives, LibDems Hold Talks
An unexpected alliance of the centre-left Joint Progressive Party List and the centre-right Liberal Democratic Party appears to be in the works, with party leaders meeting to discuss a possible coalition, assuming the accuracy of polls predicting that the two would together approach a majority. “Talks have been productive, and we are optimistic about future cooperation,” said Vyaparam Vedan, the LDP’s leader. The two parties have joined up once in the past, to form a caretaker government last year.

Mel-akkam Refuses SCO Membership
Mel-akkam’s Diplomatic Commission, in a post-election “lame duck” act, rejected a Chinese offer of membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. Diplomatic Commission President Puratana Civari’peru justified the decision, stating that “Mel-akkam values its democratic traditions, and does not intend to associate with a group contradictory to these principles.”
