Desmendura is a very powerful nation when it comes to the economy, for it's GDP is Icr 69,604.34 Per capita. The economy is powerful because of it's rich natural resources and constant support and assistance from NGOs. The nation is also devoted to the social welfare and education of it's citizens and also promotes major corporations throughout Desmendura and the world. Desmendura is a former member of the WA and is also part of "The United Kingdom" a continent that always accepts new nations throughout the world.
Desmendura is also powerful when it comes to industry, both consumer and heavy. A lot of countries from the world usually go to Desmendura's market to import and export goods. Desmendura also has some competition for the world economy along with other nations by constructing factories, deregulating its economy, and removing all tariffs to trade. And as a result, the World Assembly has ranked Desmendura very highly in the region in regards to its economy, industry, and trade.

By 1825, Baron Para (1766-1838) had created a language derived from Lazarian, it is named "Desmenduran" and it is the country's current national language along with English. The standard way to refer to a citizen in the country is "Desmenduran"
History went on until the 18th Century, when most nations began exploring the world for colonies as the 18th Century was a century for wars, conflicts, and disagreements; And that countries began sending navigators and explorers to new areas for colonies. Most of these explorers, though, when colonizing new areas, simply took these areas for themselves, upsetting several rulers. Most of these explorers were then captured, expatriated back to their respective countries, then received capital punishment. One group from a prospering nation known as Lazaria, managed to escape these purges and went on exploring United Kingdom. These explorers used what's remaining of their supplies to build a settlement, but this time for their country. When their country's forces arrived to arrest them, they told them that they were already building this for their nation, and they were allowed to continue. This settlement eventually grew from a campsite to a town, the explorers named this town "Hespera" after Lazaria's monarch, Queen Theodora Hespera I (1760-1817). And they began building more and more settlements.
By 1800, these settlements went from small villages to enormous cities. But by this time, mayors became so corrupt that they become like dictators. Luckily for the people, these mayors were overthrown and a new government was installed. And by 1804, these settlements became so prosperous that they can already manage themselves without the assistance from the queen.
By 1805, Myron Para (1763-1820), a devout revolutionary determined to unite the settlements under one government in an independent and sovereign country, decided to take serious action. He secretly amassed a revolutionary army to stop the queen's forces and force her to give them independence. After this, Para and his revolutionaries decided first to sabotage the military bases the queen's forces set up then start the liberation. They started by attacking a small military outpost at the Sunset Valley. This was successful, and they took the supplies of the area before plundering it. After that, they went for another, much larger military outpost, at the Riverside Lakes, like before, this was successful. And then they continued raiding and attacking more of the queen's base camps until she finally noticed. And by 1808, the time after she did notice it, sent her forces to the cities to persecute the people to submission. Para, in response to this attack, sent his forces to defend the cities, this started the bloody and grueling 4-year Lazarian Revolutionary War.
During the early years of the war, the revolutionaries were at the losing side. But bloody losses still came from both sides. Convinced that he will not lose the war, Para decided to have a change of plans. He sent some men to hijack cannons, a weapon the revolutionaries didn't have, and used the last of the army's treasury to rearm and reorganize the revolutionaries. By 1810, he finally set out for battle, this time he had won, thanks to cannons and reorganization. Then he went on winning more and more battles until Queen Hespera herself cannot handle. By 1812, he and the revolutionaries had won the war, but not independence yet. By the winter of 1812, Queen Hespera arranged an emergency meeting with her advisers at her royal palace. All advisers agreed to the fact that the queen grant the colonies independence, so without a doubt, she granted them independence. This had made the revolutionaries and the people happy, Para then united all the colonies as one country. He then named this country "Desmendura" which is Lazarian for "freedom for the people".
By 1815, he decided to proceed with his plans and began constructing houses, factories, etc. Then he annexed the Caribbean islands, well most of them, then used them as farmlands as the mainland was mainly reserved for industrial purposes. But by 1820, Para died of an unknown plague that ravaged his area during that time, aged 56. His brother, Baron Para (1766-1838), then took over as Prime Minister. During this time, Baron decided to continue his brother's programs but also had his own. Baron started his plans by colonizing new areas then taking their natural resources, then he would trade the most valuable of these resources to other countries to earn money for more colonizing and industrializing. He also formed the Association of United Kingdom nations (AUKN) to further strengthen Desmendura's diplomatic relationships with the other nations in the region. To assert his country's independence, he adopted a new language that everyone is obliged to learn, Desmenduran.
By 1830, when the Industrial Revolution has hit full swing, Desmendura already has a powerful economy and industry and at the same time Baron's term had ended and Franklin Avanza (1784-1851) was elected as new prime minister. Avanza, knowing that Desmendura already had a powerhouse of an economy, decided to focus on the military. Avanza firmly believed that if Desmendura is to remain powerful and rich, its military has to be perfect because Desmendura, being very powerful and all, can gain many rivals and that's the reason why a good military is required. So he began his plans by hiring foreign officers to train his troops, built up the navy, and started a temporary 2-month conscription period to add more troops to the army. By 1837, Avanza's plans for the military had been accomplished, so he decided to spend the last 3 years of his term on improving trade. He ordered the construction of more ships, tried strengthening Desmendura's relationships with the other countries, and with the help of the AUNN, he managed to open up trade routes to many countries, even Lazaria.
In 1840, after the end of Prime Minister Avanza's term, the country suddenly shifted from industrialization and expansion to idealism and literature. The Smith Era started in 1840 up until 1880. The Smith Era began among the scholars, artists, and scientists. They had new ideas, but also turned to the past, rediscovering the learning of the ancient peoples. With a greater knowledge of ancient science and beliefs, Desmenduran scholars were inspired to think again about establishing religious teaching. In literature, great Desmenduran writers such as Jonathan Smith began to explore human emotions. Other than that, he also began campaigning for more free speech as he believed that more free speech can allow even more of people's ideas to be explored, praised, or criticized. Most Desmenduran prime ministers took up Smith Era ideas with enthusiasm. So did ordinary people who inspired to be great thinkers.
Jonathan Smith also believed that an idea could only be true, if there is enough evidence. Though the Smith Era was widely praised by the leaders, most of the common peoples opposed it. They believed that idealization could cripple Desmendura's reputation as a superpower as the rulers may no longer focus on industrialization. The book Ideas to Shape a new Desmendura, written by Smith, stated how ideas, literature, art, and others could make Desmendura a better place as well as a center for literature. Despite the negative aspects of the Smith Era, there are also positive ones, Smith's ideas did help Desmendura in some way, his ideas also made Desmendura a center for learning, and the opponents of the Smith Era are actually on the losing side.
After 40 years of literature, art, and ideas, the Smith Era came to an end as Jonathan Smith died of tuberculosis at age 79. Despite this unfortunate end, the Smith Era, along with Smith's own, had a legacy that made Desmendura the center of learning. After the Smith Era, Desmendura went back to industrializing and colonization.
After a few months or so of debating whether to continue to promote Smith's works or not, the government has made a decision, they would continue the colonization and industrialization like Desmendura did before. This brought jubilation among the Anti-Smith Era Coalition and at the same time brought grief and distress towards the Era's supporters. At this point, the country continued establishing factories, conquering areas for supplies and trade, and establishing diplomatic relationships with other countries. During this point, the government also has to allocate a lot of funds towards its military and industry.
During this point, a lot of places can be conquered around the world, this includes those local, uninhabited, and tiny islands throughout the United Kingdom. Gaining colonies would be easy by annexation or just simply assimilating the natives into Desmenduran culture. Gaining colonies would be hard if it would be through the military since the government has to allocate a lot of funds towards this in order to continue supplying the soldiers with food and ammunition. And as a result, Desmendura decided to just try to annex or assimilate the natives into their culture, and if they refuse, the military kicks in.
By the early 1900s, Desmendura had already conquered a lot of territories, most via military since native don't appreciate annexation via paperwork or Desmenduran culture. These colonies all provided the fundamental needs necessary to keep Desmendura industrialized, economically powerful, and to keep a large standing army via money earned from trade. These colonies also provided new trade routes to rich areas, which forced the Desmenduran government to spend vast sums of money building cargo/trade ships and ships that could protect these trade ships. There were also so many colonies that the main government was forced to establish local governments to be able to keep these colonies in running order.
By the 1920s, the main government had given most of these colonies independence. Any Desmenduran military forces were to stay until that independent country can start and maintain its own standing army. There are also countries who don't have a military, so they were declared protectorates of Desmendura.
Though despite being politically unstable, Desmendura still manages to excel well in industry and trade thanks to the robust private sector. As the government is having internal problems, the industry and businesses were left untouched as they can fend for themselves, making the country's economy still stable and thriving. A few years after the 1930s, things in the government were getting relaxed and riots have ceased.
The 1940s was a recovery decade for Desmendura. This decade was a time when the government was getting stabilized and when riots eventually stopped to a halt. A few years later, the government became completely stabilized and Desmendura went fine again in the books of the international community. The country took advantage of this and began to build its industry and businesses up more. The government abolished all tariffs to trade as well as deregulated more of the economy. It then began a land conversion program to enhance the country's agricultural sector and began the construction of more factories to enhance the country's manufacturing sector. These programs took more than a decade to take effect.
The 1950s was a decade of prosperity for Desmendura. The country flourished under overwhelming profits from trade as well as having a powerful heavy industry and consumer products. The country's economy prospered to the point that it made Desmnedura "globally competitive" again. During this time, the government continued their desired industrialization projects but also worked for the people's welfare. Highrise apartments were built to house the population as well as some affordable housing. This marked the end of the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s, the space age.
The 1960s was a decade of space and astronomy for Desmendura. The country successfully launched its first space probe, Aviox, into space in 1961 where it took clear photos of outer space as well as gather some particles and rocks in space. After that, the country launched a few more space probes until the Desmenduran Imperial Space Agency (DISA) decided to send a man into space. In 1963, they sent Levo Garavicii into an orbit around the globe, making him the first Desmenduran to be sent into space. In December 14, 1969 DISA successfully landed Albert Killian and Gary Salveo on the moon, making them the first Desmendurans to step on the moon. This remarkable achievement ended the space decade and began the 1970s.
The 1970s and so on and so forth were the years where Desmendura continued achieving and making mistakes, but these would never hinder the country's reputation as one of the leading global powers ever again.
A powerful tornado taking place in
the eastern region.
Extreme weather is fairly uncommon in Desmendura. Tornadoes only happen once in a year while hurricanes happen 0-2 times a year. The common types of weather disturbances in the country are snowstorms that happen in the northern region, thunderstorms that take place in the southern and eastern areas in the country, and monsoons that take place in the western region. Tornadoes, although rare, only take place in the middle-northern area of the country.
Rainfall in Desmendura is, like all the other climate factors, dependent on the region. The north and south areas, for instance, almost never experience rain, the north's "rain" is known as hail, the south basically doesn't have any special form of rain. The middle are of the country is the area where rain and precipitation is mostly happening. The western area, being tropical wet and dry, tends to have rainfalls happen four times a month if there are no hurricanes taking place. The eastern area receives rain thrice a month.
As of now, there are a lot of countries occupying the continent but none of which borders Desmendura. The country, in a sense, is all alone until another nation claims land control that directly borders the country. The capital, Hespera, is a district on its own as well as a city. Veyra, the largest city in the country, is also its own district plus city. Galus is also another example of a district-city and is also the third largest city in the nation.
The natural resources of Desmendura is very diverse. That includes coal, copper, lead, molybdenum, phosphates, rare earth elements, uranium, bauxite, gold, iron, mercury, nickel, potash, silver, tungsten, zinc, petroleum, natural gas, timber, diamonds, and even crystals. The vast mining of these minerals is currently happening and is boosting the economy to a frighteningly high level and prosperity.
The usual terrain in Desmendura is rolling plains and bumpy hills. Though there are some regions that are mountainous, while some are completely flat grasslands. But the most common terrain is rolling plains and bumpy hills. High mountains are dominant in the northern region while low mountains dominate the southern region. Some international colonies even have volcanic and Mediterranean topographies.
English and Desmenduran are the main language in Desmendura. Other unofficial but recognized languages include Lazarian, Russian, German, and Chinese. As of the present day, 95% of the population has English and Desmenduran as a first language while 5% speak the minority languages. A recent survey shows that the amount of people speaking minority languages has increased by 0.7% due to the increasing rate of immigration and emigration to the country.
About 85% of Desmendurans are identified as having Imperial Christianity as their main faith while the rest of the 15% have other main faiths. Out of these minority religions, about 65% of them are identified as Roman Catholics while 5% are Lutheran while another 5% are Calvinists. The rest of the 25% are irreligious or atheist. A recent survey shows that amount of people that have minority religions as their main faith has increased by 0.3% due to immigration.
Education plays an important role in Desmendura. With 100% of the population being well-educated. Most of the schools in Desmendura are privatized but some remain public to provide free education to the impoverished people. Most, if not all, universities provide low tuition fees so everyone in the country can finish school. Some postgraduate studies also have low tuition fees but some are really expensive depending on the college course and which school the student chose.

As per Title I, Article XVII of the Doctrina Dasmiranda, which is Desmendura's constitution, people have the right to elect any government officials besides the Valicracy and the Imperiatrice. The High Emperor only has to come from the Desmenduran Royal Family while the rest of the Valicracy and the Imperiatrice are persons chosen only by the High Emperor himself. As of now, elections for ILC Chairman, Imperate Minister, and Imperial Senator are currently available.
As of now, the main Desmenduran government has three branches, namely:
The Valicracy - A fraternal group that serves as the main leaders of the country. The Valicracy may pass laws without the need of voting but still needs the High Emperor's approval. It is composed of the High Emperor, the Imperator, and the "Supremes" a group of three people who advise the High Emperor and run the country's affairs along with the Imperator during the High Emperor's absence.
The Imperiatrice - An all-female group that serves as the secondary leaders of the country. The Imperiatrice works along with the Imperator and the Supremes when it comes to running the country during the High Emperor's absence. It is composed of the Imperiatrix and the Imperiatrix Destinatum.
The Aristocracy - A mixed-gender group that is composed of the entire upper class and is headed by the richest in the country. The Aristocracy's only purpose in the government is to provide money or some sort of advice to either the Valicracy or the Imperiatrice.
There are also some "unfair" circumstances that one or a group of persons can be exempt from a number of laws. This circumstance applies mainly applies to The Aristocracy and people from the High Emperor's choosing. This unfair rule is also one of the reasons why protests and riots broke out in the 1930s and before. But as of now, this rule only applies to the Royal Family.
As of the present day, Desmenduran judges are appointed personally by the High Emperor or through a majority vote in either the Supremes or the Aristocracy. Surprisingly, this system of appointments are actually effective and makes the Desmenduran Judicial System one of the most professional in the region.
The death penalty is strictly prohibited unless that certain person has committed heinous crimes and these kinds of death penalties are only handed out by the Imperial Court or by the High Emperor himself. Article VIII from Title II of the Doctrina Dasmiranda reads: "One shall not be given the death penalty unless decreed by His Imperial Majesty,"
Harsh punishments other than the death penalty are relatively uncommon and considered "unorthodox" and are only handed out to people who have committed repeated minor crimes such as DUI. These non-death penalty harsh punishments are usually handed out by the Regional Trial Court. Article VII from Title II reads: "One that commits repeated minor offenses shall not be arrested but, rather, given harsh punishments instead,"
House of Balianis - Daravicii Balianis
House of Savelio - Hans Savelio
House of Grivucii - Beriterio Grivucii
House of Zimat - Alfredo Zimat
House of Rifario - Joseph Rifario
House of Samucii - Rafael Samucii
House of Wiralba - Detir Wiralba
House of Vinas - Arilas Vinas
House of Afalba - Baron Afalba
House of Frivalba - Daravicii Frivalba
The Imperial Dominion has its own system of Political Parties, Houses. Each House is composed of an entire family and only has 3 three generations of High Emperors before they are finally replaced by a different House. As of now, the House of Balianis is in power and only has one more generation before they are finally replaced by a different House. A House is elected into power by the Supremes and once that House is in power, one of their males above 20 is chosen, by his family, to be the High Emperor.
The idea of "Houses" was first seen in Title I, Article IX of the Doctrina Dasmiranda and it reads: "A High Emperor comes from the House and family in power and that House only has 3 generations before they are finally replaced by another family or House,"
The idea of "Houses" was made so that every family that is willing to might have the chance to set up power over the Imperial Dominion and it is also made so to reduce graft and corruption against one family that rules too long.
As of now, there are 10 Houses and families are free to form new houses so long as they don't intend to take the throne by force.
