New Season; New Beginnings! Football League Kicks Off Again
The 150th edition of the Football League in Brototh, the top flight of association football in Brototh, has kicked off with a sensational series of scorelines to mark the Football League's sesquicentennial anniversary. Last season's champions, Wigan Wildfire, will be looking to extend their titanic grip over the Football League for the fourth season in a row after completing a sensational Treble last year, dominating domestically, and continentally- winning the Seleno-Koelasia Champions Trophy.

The introduction of the video assistant referee four years ago continues to prove a controversial topic, and it has already had a part to play; VAR overruled an equaliser from Romsey United against the Seashell Shockers in what otherwise would have been a classic comeback from three goals down away to nearly equalise the game in the 96th minute. Around the grounds, Wigan Wildfire has got off to the start they wanted, with a comfortable 2-0 home victory against the constantly relegation threatened Coldown Colonels, who have been in the First Division since its establishment in 1873 and are the only founding club never to have been relegated from the top flight.

Last season's title rivals for Wildfire, one of this year's six Lucent based teams, the Sotel Stars, were less convincing against the newly-promoted Kelley Dons who played their first ever top flight game. Sotel hosted the game and took the lead in front of their 61,000 strong crowd with a 64th minute header from new signing Josh Reed. Reed signed in the off-season for an estimated fee of ₽85,000,000 from the Ripon Rangers. Despite Reed's great start to the Football League, the Dons were able to equalise the game in the 75th minute with an excellent half-volley from Michael Brown. The game ended 1-1.

The Veruna and Hindon game was the first 90+ minute winner of the season after Perkowski, who scored a 62nd minute equaliser, assisted Verastequi with a brilliant cross to win it on the last kick of the game. Going into the game, Hindon were clear favourites even away from home, and they will be sorely disappointed with the result, especially after taking the lead in the 41st minute.

The best viewing was to be found at Saint Michael's Palace in Skresal, where the hosts Skresal Town were edged out by the Denanwy Delvers in a thrilling end to end game. The ancient rivalry between these two clubs was visible from the get-go after Skresal were down to 10 men in the 4th minute. Much of the game was trading possession in the final thirds with both teams showing their attacking and defensive class; the number of shots on target was the highest in the Football League today with a stunning total of 17 all together. Despite losing a man in the 4th minute, Skresal made clear they were not giving in with a goal only a minute later from club legend Steven Smalling. Denanwy secured the equaliser with a skilful James Rose chip shot in the 22nd minute, and he bagged his brace and the winner in the 86th minute with a curling shot from nearly 30 yards out.

The league already looks competitive in all places with action at the top and bottom; despite it being the first game, this is already shaping up to be a captivating season.
