Rationale & Analysis
World Assembly Official Merchandise is a flagrant attempt at institutionalised global capitalism by using the name, likeness, and logos of both the World Assembly and individual member states to sell and distribute merchandise across the nations represented in the august World Assembly. The Communist Bloc is a leftist region, and as such the Ministry cannot in good conscience support such measures. If this measure is to pass, the Ministry of World Assembly Affairs will personally call upon our regional legislature to prohibit the World Assembly from using the Bloc's regional logos, mascots, flags, or symbols for profit of the WA Trust for Cultural Heritage. (WATCH) Furthermore, the proposal provides authority to the WA Trust for Cultural Heritage to manage the proposed World Assembly merchandizing program. In accordance with GAR #287 (Cultural Site Preservation), the WATCH has authority over cultural sites and the funds for maintaining them. While this may be the appropriate agency to determine the nature of the World Assembly's intellectual property, licensing and monitoring of industry goes far beyond the scope of this agency. The International Trade Agency (established in GAR #52) would be a more fitting and appropriate agency to monitor such business ventures.
