Algieres

NOTE: This aint my RL views, at all!

The Peoples Republic of Algieres, commonly called Algieres, is a communist dictatorship in Northern Algeria. It is bordered on the north by the Mediterranean, on the south by Algeria, on the east by Tunisia and on the west by Morocco. Algeries covers 73,198 square miles and has has an estimated population of 5 million. Algieres comprises of 4 provinces and 1 district.

Algeries doesnt play much of a role in the world, although it had escalated tensions if Algeria should own Algieres.

Etymology

The name derives from Algiers, the most important and renowned city, and "es", an addon to distance from Algeria.

The standard way to refer to a citizen of Algieres is an "Algerei."

History

Algerei history is the exact same as Algerian history, although it truly begins in 1963.

In 1963, Algerei communists and socialists began to demand freedom, organizing guerilla attacks and such, and deeming themselves "Algerei," and ultimately engaging in a full-scale war by 1964. Algeria and Algieres eventually agreed to a partition in 1969, with many concessions to Algerei leaders.

In 1974, skirmishes began on the Tunisian border, with infantrymen having brawls with Tunisians. Eventually, Algieres demanded reparations, which Tunisia declined and countered with their own demands. This escalated into a war 3 months later. The war lasted for 2 years before Tunisia and Algieres, both struggling, agreed to sign a peace treaty. But both still wish to avenge the war and defeat each other.

In 1991, during the collapse of the Soviet Union, Algieres experienced an economic crash. Having Soviet exports as the backbone for kickstarting the economy, this caused it to topple down on itself, worsening the situation. This lead to the split of the Algerei Communist Party into two party's, the ACP-B and the ACP-M, each of which were lead by two leaders. The ACP-M came out on top after 13 years of war, which began to aim for economic improvement and welfare, rather than advancing the radical militarist ideals.

In 2005, the ACP-B remnants were NOT giving up (at least some). They proceeded to announce a "resistance", which was just a small group holding onto some villages and A decently sized city. After 2 months of war, this holdout surrendered and order was finally restored, right? Wrong. Bandits ended up spreading all over the Southern countryside, forcing the military to deploy constantly, and the small air force Algieres had was working overtime to bomb targets and down the occasional terrorist fighter / bomber, and the small amount of militiamen to support were taking heavy loses.

The current year (for Algieres) is 2006, just 2 years after the Civil War. The countryside is ravaged, especially the South (hotspot of civil war), and the government is working on securing it from the banditry and tribes / factions. The Second Algerei-Tunisian War is currently eminent though!
Geography

The geography of Algieres is primarily composed of desert, but prickly pears and small oasis' and rivers allow for farming, not to mention man-made canals with many crops on their sides, building up the Algerei agriculture. The occasional mountain or small, small forest can be seen.

Algerei climate is hot, usually soaring at higher temperatures throughout the year, however at night or winter it can calm down or even get cold.
The Algerei ecosystem and environment is decently diverse, with prickly pears, cacti, and many desert animals like the rattlesnake being hunted and cooked for marketing or consumption. Its not that rare to find trees near oasis' or rivers, though.

Government
The government is A large, totalitarian communist agrarian socialist regime, dominating the country and having control over every little bit of the nation it can hold. It requires work, and strongly promotes the proletariat and farmers, not to mention a massive propaganda stream all over the nation. Dissent is illegal, and the chairman has complete control, alongside his staff. However, Sunni Islam is incorporated into the government, and tribes willing to side with the government can quietly remain control over their families and small villages. This, however, is slowly being cracked down on.
Foreign Relations and Military

Algieres is currently working on foreign relations with most Communist nations, and Tunisian / Algerian relations are getting low. A diplomat famously once said: "With enough strength, together we could make a pig fly." Wait, wrong one, "The Tunisian and Algerian brats will never, ever give in to our nation without A true display of force."

The Algerei Armed Forces has at least 160,000 personnel, armed with many things primarily coming from Russia, along with their own versions of Russian/Soviet weapons. Infantry are taught guerilla and unconventional warfare, and also regular warfare, and an emphasis on manpower with decent equipment is implied. Most Algerei commanders know logistics better than others, surprisingly, and are exceptional at driving back stronger enemies in defensive wars.

Economy

Economic Indicators

Rank:297,199th
Currency:Algerei Dinar (0.74 USD)
Fiscal Year:364 days

GDP (nominal):120 billion Algerei Dinars
GDP (nominal) per capita: 9,321 Algerei Dinars
Labor Force:83% of the population is employed
Unemployment:17% which is mostly elders

The economy is built up on arms manufacturing, government operations (state industry included) and 'surprisingly', stolen goods from other countries marketed by the official government, but secretly. It is very fragile, but is stable enough not to drop.
Culture

Algerei culture is built up on Islam with a combination of agrarian socialism, with many families incorporating both as key philosophy. Sunni is the dominant religion, whilst Shia's frequently experience guerilla raids, which is promoted by the government. The culture is often seen to round around communism, patriotism for the nation, and of course, Allah, or in english, God. The nation's leader is considered A "prophet to Allah" by many.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure is based on dirt roads, though apparently, this is surprisingly effective. Cheap materials like clay can also be seen as roadwork, but dirt and natural things are predominant in infrastructure. Bikes or off-road vehicles and beloved due to this.

Energy

The energy of the nation is mostly fossil fuels, but the nation is working on creating small solar-powered partitions due to the constant shining of the sun. Oil drills lay all across towns, and many turn to oil plants for work in the countryside due to this.
