Rhanukhani Fashion
As you might expect, there is quite the variation in sartorial styles across a country the size of the Unified Provinces of Rhanukhan, with each province displaying its own particular quirks. The influence of the dominant Rhanukhani culture is always in evidence, however. A nation of conspicuous wealth, richly patterned and colourful silks can be found in abundance with finely woven octopus wool from the western highlands appearing during the cooler season. Employing elaborate jewellery as a display of affluence is commonplace and even those at the poorer end of society would be loath to be seen without at least a bangle or prominent earring.
The distinctive colourful facial markings worn by all Rhanukhanis are widely held to be a long-standing cultural tradition dating back centuries, but were originally unique to the province of Ahnliss. Their wider popularity occurred during the 1800s when Domina Natalie (r. 1838 - 1908) became aware of them and adopted the style. It wasn't long before the fashionable elite began copying her and from there the affectation swiftly became universal. A number of supposedly ancient Rhanukhani traditions can actually be explained by stating, "Well, this one time, Domina Natalie thought that it would be a good idea to..." - she was renowned as a trend-setter.
Shown below is just a small sample of the styles you could expect to see on the streets of Rhanukhan Kaglakh itself.
