News from TGW:
  • We hosted a regional meme contest on all things NationStates, Dragon Age, or TGW which collected dozens of memes from our residents and put people's sense of humor to the test with DKP and other rewards on the line

  • In conjunction with our allies in 10000 Islands, Europeia, and The League, we released a statement on recruitment policies in anticipation of the Frontier / Strongholds update that can be found here

  • Following NS being down for several days, TGW launched a Minecraft Server called WardenCraft which currently exists as a casual survival server after a brief turmoil in all-out war between four factions - open to everyone to play and can be found in TGW's Discord

Factions:
December

Factions are teams of members of The Order of the Grey Wardens community named after various Dragon Age regions that compete with each other in a friendly way for Darkspawn Kill Points (DKP). DKP is earned through a set of tasks/activities known as Quests like recruiting, attending updates, participating in guardian missions, and more.

This month's DKP was much more dynamically spread throughout members with 15 people earning 100+ DKP. Fereldan saw a massive overthrow by Orlais while Tevinter and the Anderfels were locked almost dead even for 2nd and 3rd

Orlais - 776

Tevinter - 652

The Anderfels - 646

Nevarra - 467

Ferelden - 443

Featured Warden: Wolflandil
January

This month's featured Warden, Wolflandil, has been on NationStates for nearly nine years. Spending most of their career in smaller roleplay-oriented communities, they branchd out into gameplay in early/mid-2022 following a raid on their home region, The Mystical Council (now The Mystical Alliance). Not long after getting involved in defending, they joined the Order, and have since been an active and energetic presence.

Quebecshire: Hello Wolflandil, thank you for agreeing to be January's featured Warden 😄 How are you doing today?

Wolflandil: It's an honor. Id say I'm doing well, how about yourself Quebec?

Quebecshire: Not bad, just got some lunch.

Quebecshire: So to get into it, how did you get your start on NationStates?

Wolflandil: Its been eons, but if I remember correctly I was looking for a country simulator and ended up stumbling upon it. Since it was back in 2014, memory is a little fuzzy lol

Quebecshire: Gotcha, I think a lot of people found their way here pretty inadvertently. Have you been around since 2014, or did you have gaps of inactivity?

Wolflandil: I've been around since 2014, believe it or not :p

Quebecshire: Interesting, weird to think how long that's been, I'm a 2016-er and it's unsettling to realize it's already been 7 years.

Quebecshire: Many people know you as being from TMC/TMA - was that always your region or did you hop around a bit? I know the original TMC was founded around 2014.

Wolflandil: TMC wasn't my original region, that goes to the Imperium of the Wolf. I didn't join TMC until around 2018 I'd say.

Quebecshire: What was Imperium of the Wolf like? I haven't heard of that one, or if I had it's since slipped my mind.

Wolflandil: The Imperium was a casual RP oriented region. Many good memories of waging wars over silly things like "which fruit is better" or the numerous cookie wars. I think it was raided by LWU a few years back, but defenders managed to save the region.

Quebecshire: It would seem you're correct! I did a quick search on it and this is the pinned dispatch about the liberation - interesting stuff there for sure.

Quebecshire: That does sound like a chill and unique way to have fun in RP. So you were there from 2014-18?

Wolflandil: I left them around 2 years later, like late 2015, realized mistakes were made, and rejoined them in late 16 after a quick wake up call.

Quebecshire: That makes sense! What brought you to TMC after that?

Wolflandil: A lot of my RP partners CTE or stopped posting, so I was on the hunt for a more active region with a casual RP like I was used to, it was around this time I met many of my Forum 7 friends. You might recognize the name of one of them, Valentine Z.

Quebecshire: That makes sense - what was your experience in TMC like? I know the unreliability of the founder was a common theme for awhile

Wolflandil: Ah yes. Life there was actually enjoyable, and when I first started to interact with everyone there it reminded me of my early days in the Imperium. Oakplumington, The founder was very spotty with appearances even when I joined the region. Only real notable memory of interactions was when Oak pranked the entire region by "giving" his main account to a "raider" which in all reality was his puppet.

Quebecshire: That's a bit odd on his, but fair enough! Did you ever venture outside TMC much, or did you usually just stick around there?

Wolflandil: Really didn't too much, except for a year break where I went to Valentine Day, Valentine Z's puppet region to hang out with them for a while. I came back around 2-3 months before the raid if I remember correctly.

Quebecshire: Gotcha, makes sense. So was the raid what motivated you into getting into wider gameplay or had you already been considering that?

Wolflandil: The refounding was definitly a motivating factor, but it was ultimately Malcholm (Pyrohy) who introduced me into R/D where I learned the basics of what to do in the back to back liberation events of England and EmbassyRegionia.

Quebecshire: That's cool! I know Pyrohy was a long-time Warden so that probably helped you get set easily. How has your experience in TGW been, as I recall you somewhat recently became a Senior Warden?

Wolflandil: TGW has been definitly fun so far. TGW is one of the few communities that actually not only caught my interest, but got me out of my shell, with me being more reserved than most.

Quebecshire: Gotcha, that seems to be the feeling for a lot of people. What have been your favorite things since joining?

Wolflandil: There's a lot to choose from, to be honest.

Wolflandil: but I'd say the many senior wardens and leadership that act as mentors and the general vibes of the community. In the Liberty Gala it was definitly hard to choose just one person to be listed as my mentor.

Quebecshire: Yeah that definitely makes sense. I think I opted to pick my more "historic" mentor than the people who taught me modern defending, since there was no clear single choice.

Quebecshire: Who did you end up picking?

Wolflandil: I ended up picking Grea Kriopia, as around that time GK was really the one I bothered with quick questions on some basic skills, such as spotting.

Quebecshire: Gotcha, GK has definitely helped a lot of new defenders get situated. Since you mention spotting, what has been your favorite aspect of defending?

Wolflandil: Honestly it would be liberations. I also respect the amount of work that happens behind closed doors of leadership, from the processes I haven't seen yet, like research into the region to make sure they aren't problematic, to the ones I have, like calling everyone we can into action.

Quebecshire: Ugh that's always such a pain. There was some LWU hit a couple days ago and I joined their Discord server for outreach only to immediately be greeted by [removed]. But yeah, it definitely takes a large group to make a liberation happen successfully, even if it can be tiring it's always worth it.

Wolflandil: Always find the best and the worst here on NS here, for sure. Reminds me of a refound of a fasc region I did a while back with TMA where the natives were saying really gross things on the RMB.

Quebecshire: Mmm, I do remember that yeah. Going forward as a Warden, do you have any goals?

Wolflandil: I would say my main goal is to develop my leadership and defender skills to better our cause of saving innocent regions from being posed as nothing but a raider trophy.

Quebecshire: Makes sense - is there anything else you want to add before we wrap up this interview?

Wolflandil: I'd like to give a quick thank you before the interview ends to the Warden community as a whole. Each one of you is awesome.

Quebecshire: Im sure they’ll appreciate it, and we’ll have this published soon! Thanks for your time today.

Wolflandil: Thank you for interviewing me!
