Surai is known to have a few unique animals, notably the Surai stallion which is well-known for its speed and resilience. One famous example of Surai’s plantlife is the “Soul Tree”, easily spotted through its height and blue-looking leaves. The soul tree has religious importance for many due to it allegedly serving as a connection between the dead and living in many local religions. The largest mountain in Surai is Mt. Burossamutawā, renowned for its being covered in blossom trees and often in fall, it looks pink from all the blossoms that fall off. The biggest river in Surai is the Riripaddo river which goes through the Maguma, Yumi, Fukahire and Tamashi prefectures, creating valuable farmland on either side of it. The reason for such a high amount of local religions is mostly due to the long-enforced government policy of religious freedom since even the 1600s. Important religious holidays are recognised as days off by the relevant prefecture.
History of Surai
The Kingdom of Surai was originally founded in 1567 following the unification of several smaller states largely inhabited by the Suraian people. One of the Earliest Kings established the city of Tamashi in 1625, which soon became an important trading hub within the region and prompted the creation of a professional navy that propelled the nation to a significant power through the remainder of the 1600s. The 1700s saw a significant decline in Surai’s power as it was eclipsed by other neighbouring empires, however, significant expansion against smaller principalities and kingdoms was pursued by various Kings. The various wars highlighted the skill of the Suraian soldiers who became a dominant class within Suraian medieval society, they were also highly sought-after mercenaries proving decisive in most engagements they fought in. The industrial revolution completely changed Suraian society, causing a rift between cities and the countryside along with pushing various new ideas including a push for more political rights for all. Eventually, a law that allowed all to vote along with limiting the King’s power was passed in 1871 collapsing most of the support for Republican groups in the country. Throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s Surai was in a stable prosperous era of peace, however, on January 17th 1952, the Maguma province saw an eruption from a massive Volcano which devastated the region. An exclusion zone was established due to the difficulty faced in the clean-up operation, however, Suraians have slowly returned to the area following continued clean-up efforts from the government. Since 2000, Surai has invested heavily in its armed forces, tech and fishing industries along with heavy infrastructure modernisation. Minor political instability over the future of the nation has become increasingly noticeable over the monarchy and the path the nation should take Internationally yet Surai is expected to stay together despite ongoing challenges.
