Delegate's Briefing Ⅶ

Delegate's Briefing
Edition Ⅶ

Delegate's Introduction
Please UPVOTE to spread the Briefing!

Howdy, fellow South Pacificans! :D

I'm here to bring you the seventh edition of the Delegate's Briefing, the Delegate's bi-weekly update to the region on off-site, Regional Message Board, and World Assembly activity! This edition covers the period from November 6 to 20.

We officially have a new Local Council! Between the 7th and the 14th, South Pacifican WA nations headed to the polls and elected Canadian Goose Republic, Concrete Slab, and Evinea to the three open seats on the devolved on-site government. Congratulations to you three! The election also saw a corruption scandal Linkbeing heard and adjudicated by the High Court of the South Pacific in the first Criminal Complaint since quite some time, which ended with the disqualification of incumbent Councilor Curlyhoward from the election as punishment for using his LC ability of sending regional telegrams at no cost to give himself an advantage during campaigning.

I'm also pleased to bring you an announcement from the Ministry of Culture: With new forum functionality, we have Linka "Culture Calendar" again! Using this site, you can easily see all the cool events the Ministry has planned, so you can check out their info and attend if you like what you're seeing. For example, this evening there's another Sunday Night Stream, where you can watch the film "Akira" together with your region-mates on Linkour regional Discord server! :D

Now, in the Assembly, we had a vote on the Linkappointment of Jay Coop (Qvait) to the Legislator Committee, the body responsible for processing new applications for legislatorship ‒ the appointment was confirmed unanimously, making Jay the third member on the Committee. If you'd like to join us in proposing, debating, and voting on regional laws and appointments, you should Linksign up to become a legislator on our forums ‒ this will also automatically make you eligible to vote in Executive elections! Speaking of which, I'm sad to report that incumbent Minister of Engagement Doge Land has Linktendered their resignation to the Assembly. A special election to fill the vacancy has been called accordingly.

The Great Council (TSP's equivalent of a constitutional convention) was also busy this fortnight. After it had Linkpassed a complete rewrite of the Charter (our constitution), several new bills have sprung up to also re-regulate other parts of the government (like the military, elections, or generally ceremonial procedure). This is a very interesting phase of the GC, and if you'd like to make an impact on the region's future, this is pretty much the opportunity to do so (for reference, the last GC was held in 2016!), so if you're interested in that I wholeheartedly recommend you to sign up in the LinkGC participant registrations thread!

Lastly, as usual, I warmly invite you to join the World Assembly ‒ taking your nation to the international stage is one of the first and easiest steps you can take to start your NationStates career and help increase the South Pacific's stability at the same time! Once you have done so, please endorse me, the Delegate, as well as the members of the Coral Guard; they will endorse you back quickly so it's a win-win-win situation for you, them, and the whole region! ^‑^

That concludes the introduction address of this Delegate's Briefing ‒ thank you for reading (as always, have this slice of cake as reward! ~ 🍰), check out the RMB Awards and WA Activity below, and don't forget to upvote to spread the word!

RMB Awards

Welcome to lucky number seven of the RMB Awards!

We have three ranked categories, in each ten posters will be listed on the leaderboard. The category names should be relatively self-explanatory, but I have attached a short description to each nonetheless. The winner of the "Most Likes Per Post" category will win a free Epic trading card! Furthermore, we have one single-winner category: "Best Post". This one is decided by a jury consisting of the Delegate and the Local Council ‒ you can submit nominations to the Delegate at any time, and the jury will decide which of the nominated posts wins the award. A free Legendary card will await the person winning "Best Post", so be sure to make high quality posts that can receive this award! My thanks to the Ministry of Engagement for sponsoring this card giveaway!

It seems like Funnyman really can't be beaten ‒ Orcuo successfully defends the "Most Posts" and "Most Likes" categories, claiming them for the sixth time in a row! My congratulations!! The "Most Likes Per Post" is won by your favorite Delegate himself, with 79 likes received over 29 posts for an average of 2.72.

Sadly, we only received one nomination for "Best Post" this cycle, and thus I won't be handing out the prize... The sole nominee was the insider tip for the 2024 US presidential election by Cheeseburger Freedom Man. Thank-you to Orcuo for nominating it, let's hope for more nominees next month so someone can actually win a brand new Legendary trading card! ^‑^
