Imperial Kandorese Navy 2nd Battle Group
The Imperial Kandorese Armed Forces are the military forces of the Empire of Kandorith. It consists of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. The armed forces are commanded by the Ministry of Defense, of which the Emperor of Kandorith is the commander-in-chief. Military policy, however, is formed by the Minister of Defense and the Department of Defense. Currently, the Kando Empire currently has over 8 million active troops. This size is largely maintained through conscription; Kandorese men must complete 21 months of military service between the ages of 18 and 35.
From the time of its creation, the Kandorese Armed Forces have played a decisive role in the entire history of the Empire. A sense of national unity and identity was established after the first Kan-Meiji war, which resulted in a victory. The National Defense Act of 1964, based on the Defense Act of 1840, created the modern Kandorese military framework. The act established the Ministry of Defense as a separate entity from the Imperial Court, headed by the minister of defense, and created the Imperial Kandorese Air Force and the National Security Council. This was done to merge the individual departments of the Army, Navy, and Airforce into one single defence ministry.
The Imperial Kandorese Armed Forces are one of the most powerful military establishments in the South Pacific. The military budget of the Empire of Kandorith was just over $10.3 trillion in 2019. The Kandorese Armed Forces have a massive capability in both defence and power projection due to this budget, resulting in many advanced and powerful technologies which enable widespread deployment of the Imperial Forces around the world. The Imperial Kandorese Armed Forces currently have an estimated 25,715 aircraft in their entire military inventory; over 1,270 ships; and a stockpile of 8,930 nuclear weapons, including ICBMs and SLBMs.
Incidentally, the Empire has seldom seen conflict with other countries, preferring a non-belligerent policy of protectionism, as declared by Emperor Aisho. The military tradition of the Empire of Kandorith follows the studies declared by ancient warlords, Hamuge and Yamurai, centuries before the foundation of the Empire as a whole, such as Sai Makurete's Provincial Warfare and Seo Tsuke's Arts of Warfare. According to the citizenship duties, all citizens are required by mandate to serve a minimum of two years in the Imperial Armed Forces, regardless of gender. The majority of citizens choose to serve in the armed forces, while others choose to work in defence-related industries and services. The law is very liberal in terms of how to fulfil the Armed Forces Requirement, allowing all people to serve in whatever capacity is available to them.
The Kandorese navy has made its first major transformation into a blue-water navy through the formation of the Strategic Mobile Fleet, which includes a battle group of Mikuharu class destroyers, Domo class amphibious assault ships, AIP-driven Type 171 submarines, Yatoga class destroyers, Yamarasu Class Aircraft Carriers, all of which are equipped with the latest baseline of anti-ship, missile, and anti-air systems that allow the ships to track and destroy multiple cruise missiles and ballistic missiles simultaneously, forming an integral part of Kandorith's indigenous missile defence umbrella against any possible foreign missile threat.
The Imperial Kandorese Air Force has made significant progress in modernising its forces in recent years by manufacturing its own modern fighters, most notably the Mitsua J-1, the Miyamoto S-20, S-35, and the Shingayi J-10, J-14, J-18, and J-31. Furthermore, the Kandorese army has started developing its own combat and high-altitude surveillance drones.
In May 2018, Kandorith tested its first hypersonic flight. The Imperial Kandorese University of Aerospace and Aerodynamics (IKUAA) claims to have successfully conducted the test with the aircraft Vigilant Dragon-4, which touched Mach 6, six times the speed of sound.
