List of Rhanukhani Rulers

The succession of rulers of the Unified Provinces of Rhanukhan since the beginning of the Unification (names/titles of early rulers translated into modern English).

All dates on the Rhanukhani calendar are designated either BU (Before Unification) or AU (Age of Unification) with the zero point traditionally considered to be the date that Stephannos, the chief of the Rhanukhii, forged an alliance with the tribes of the Ghattorians, Khuna, Kangharukhii and Samravhtelukhii for mutual protection against the expanding Pretakhoni Empire - an alliance that was the beginning of the modern Unified Provinces. By remarkable coincidence this aligns perfectly with the zero point of the standard English calendar. For convenience, dates have been rendered according to the English practice rather than Rhanukhan's own duodecimal system of notation (the present year of 2024 is rendered as 1208 on the Rhanukhani calendar).

The historic existence of Stephannos is backed up by various records excavated from Rhanukhani sites and also from the former Pretakhoni Empire. As the only source of names and details for many of the early rulers is "The Chronicle of Leir" (ostensibly compiled in the 6th century AU - only later copies exist today), however, there is much debate as to the accuracy of this genealogy. There are those who suggest that Leir may have largely fabricated a heroic ancestry for his family. Certainly some of the feats attributed to these earliest Rhanukhani leaders in the Chronicle have the air of mythology about them.

The earliest rulers of Rhanukhan were accorded the title "Upetrosut/Upetrosa Bolvelahztla" ("Chieftain/Chieftainess Above All Others") up until Ælfred I created the new title of "Dominus" following his conquest of the petty nations of the Holodlhessi Lowlands in the year 622AU. This would remain the ruler's title up until the fall of the monarchy in 2004AU. The modern elected leader of the nation bears the title of "Supreme Chairman/woman/person".
