N-day is a yearly event held on September 26th wherein nuclear annihilation engulfs the globe, and factions vie to be the ones atop the rubble when the dust settles. Nations are tasked with producing and using nuclear weapons and shields, organized within inter-regional alliances. The Ops Councillor is in charge of determining Refugia's stance and which alliances the region will join, as well as coordinating targets for aid and destruction. Refugia has historically been prolific in this event, at one point crashing NationStates servers during a particularly intense barrage in 2020.

Z-day is an event starting on October 31st, when the dead rise from their graves, intent on consuming the flesh of the living! Nations are given the option of researching a cure for zombification, attempting to wipe out the zombies with force, or embracing the virus and attempting to infect their neighbors. The Ops Councillor is responsible for deciding the region's stance on human-zombie relations and ensuring participating nations are working alongside their regionmates. They are also responsible for calling targets and setting priorities for the various missiles, hordes, and squads deployed by Refugi. Since 2019, Refugia has consistently cured the entire region, and in 2020 did so without a single fatality!

While the only things that can be reliably counted are zombies and nuclear exchanges, there has been a large history of April Fools events throughout the years. These have ranged from the creation of the cards minigame, to a recent simulation of international smuggling and seizures. While these events do not technically fall within the purview of the Office of Operations, they have oft been the first point of contact.
