OWL recommends voting [background=#AA4643] AGAINST [/background] the at-vote resolution, "Repeal 'Commend Topid'". The Delegate has been asked to cast their vote accordingly.

Please find below the Office's Analysis for an examination of the resolution and the reasons for the final recommendation.
[tab=30]The Security Council Resolution currently at vote, "Repeal 'Commend Topid'", seeks to remove the laudation of a prolific WA author on the basis of overexaggeration, political blunders committed by the nominee, incorrect predictions made by the resolution's author in it and poor quality of writing. The proposed repeal goes into details about Topid's gaffes in their early days, like clashing with 10000 Islands for "harassing" the natives of the invader-aligned Empire of Power and Condemning NAZI EUROPE, once the largest bastion of fascism in NationStates. It argues that it was Topid's contemporaries who did most of the work in guiding the Security Council in its infancy, with their involvement being minimal in the entire process. Finally, it affirms that most of Topid's predictions about the Security Council's future development ended up not hitting the mark, concluding that their time spent in the limelight was tarnished by their less-than-stellar deeds.[/tab]
[tab=30]The Office is not convinced by the arguments the proposal presents. First off, the "damaging mistakes" it refers to have been acknowledged by Topid themselves, leading them to apologize to the international community for their rash actions (something the author explicitly mentions in the proposal itself). While some things just simply can't be undone, we believe these deeds to be insignificant footnotes in the pages of history and not worthy of any retaliatory measures from the Security Council like the proposal is pushing for, especially when the offender has expressed regret for the said conduct. Additionally, we don't see the logic behind stating Topid's erroneous predictions as reasonable grounds for repealing the Commendation and consider it to be a flimsy justification at best. And finally, Sedgistan's post in the forum thread debunks the assertion that Topid's role in kickstarting the SC after a period of troublesome inactivity hadn't been as vital as it seems.[/tab]

With all of these factors considered, the Office of World Assembly Legislation recommends a vote AGAINST the at-vote Security Council Resolution, "Repeal 'Commend Topid'", and urges the South Pacifican members of the World Assembly to follow suit.[/box]
