MAP RULES
.
The maps of the NWU are key to developing relationships between our members and engaging in fun and exciting concept As both have relatively limited space, it is therefore reserved for nations who actively engage in RP and new nations who show keen interest. Please do not request a map spot unless you plan on being active for a long time.
the EARTH ATLAS
For all nations claiming a new spot, you must cohere to the following criteria to receive a map spot:
Have a somewhat believable nation name
WA membership is completely optional but encouraged
Have at least one factbook proving capability to develop an IC nation
Send a claim request to Unified Empiricus with the following information
Nation name:
Nation Roleplay name (if applicable):
Government type (monarchy, republic, stratocracy, etc.):
Head of Government/Head of State:
Location claim request:
Secondary claim request (if first claim is unavailable):
Have you read and agree to the regional RP rules as listed:
Await for this application to be accepted before beginning RP
In order to stay on the Earth Atlas, you must continue to publish and expand upon factbooks and dispatches to create a more nuanced and exciting roleplay environment for everyone.
Puppets are banned from use in NWU RP, if you wish to expand, or set up a protectorate/colony, send a small request to Unified Empiricus and await for that request to be accepted before beginning to RP with that new territory.
For claimants on Earth, unless originating from the Milky Way, it is highly encouraged that your nation at least somewhat reflects the culture of your claimed land.
Terraforming of Earth on a mass scale which could disrupt RPs in the future for other players is strictly prohibited. Any terraforming that the Right Honourable Secretary of Roleplay deems inappropriate is subject to voiding or changing, as per the NWU Constitution.
Nations are asked to understand and reflect the geography and capability of their claim. Understand the limits of resources and population before writing statistics. NationStates Statistics are not used in NWU Roleplay.
The Right Honourable Secretary of Roleplay and their advisors reserve the right to dismiss claims and/or void RP if deemed too unrealistic in terms of culture, history, and science, as well as other realism aspects.
the GALAXY (Milky Way) ATLAS
For all nations claiming a new spot, you, again must cohere to the following criteria to receive a map spot:
Have a somewhat believable nation name
WA membership is completely optional but encouraged
Have at least one factbook proving capability to develop an IC nation
Send a claim request to Prusmia with the following information
Nation name:
Nation Roleplay name (if applicable):
Government type (monarchy, republic, stratocracy, etc.):
Head of Government/Head of State:
Location claim request:
Secondary claim request (if first claim is unavailable):
Have you read and agree to the regional RP rules as listed:
Await for this application to be accepted before beginning RP
In order to stay on the Galaxy Atlas, you must continue to publish and expand upon factbooks and dispatches to create a more nuanced and exciting roleplay environment for everyone.
Puppets are banned from use in NWU RP, if you wish to expand, or set up a protectorate/colony, send a small request to Prusmia and await for that request to be accepted before beginning to RP with that new territory.
When claiming, do not expect claims in far reaches of the Milky Way to be immediately accepted. The Galaxy Cartographer and the Right Honourable Secretary of Roleplay decide if claims are accepted based on the current scientific advancement of the region.
The Galaxy Atlas is a large map. Claims are considerable smaller due to scale.
Nations are welcome to decide their own star systems and resources, and are asked to acknowledge both weaknesses of their nation as well as strengths.
The Right Honourable Secretary of Roleplay and their advisors reserve the right to dismiss claims and/or void RP if deemed too unrealistic in terms of culture, history, and science.
LIMITATIONS on ROLEPLAY
.
With its exciting and creative roleplay, the NWU prides itself upon having a diverse range of RP players who bring about so much to the table. In order to ensure fair but fun roleplay, small, soft restrictions like these exist to keep storylines exciting but also just.
TECHNOLOGY
Technology that is outright banned includes:
Weaponry:
Anti-Matter Weapons/Fuel Sources
Dark-Matter Weapons
Weapons with excessive capabilities, such as ending planets, etc.
Transport:
En-masse use of teleportation, particularly in times of war
Space-faring vessels above the size of 60km (regardless of tech tier)
RP in this region is future-tech, sci-fi based. Members are welcome to take inspiration from various sci-fi film, TV and videogame franchises if it benefits the wider community.
As mentioned, NationStates statistics are not used - members are asked to be realistic and mindful when it comes to resource, population and commodity availability for their RP nation.
Nations must stick within their Tech Tier level, unless otherwise stated by the Department of Roleplay.
MILITARY
Nations are asked to have reasonable military size in accordance with their population.
As a baseline, nations are asked to have a military that is of 1-5% of their population during peacetime. This would rise to 6-12% during a period of conflict.
It is asked that all members produce at least one factbook showing military numbers before they involve themselves in a conflict of a large scale.

Magic is permitted in the NWU but restricted in these regards:
Chemical:
Use of magic capabilities to transform elements miraculously (eg: iron into titanium, or iron to an unknown element)
Use of magic capabilities to excessively change the state of elements (liquid to gas, gas to solid et al), particularly during times of conflict
Biological:
Mass extinction of species
Mass creation/recreation of new species and/or extinct species
Use of magic to directly change the ecosystem of an environmnent on Earth
Physical:
Use of magic to excessively manipulate and/or move objects, particularly during player-to-player RP
Use of magic to make large portions of a military/civilian location disappear/appear, particularly during player-to-player RP
Excessive use of magic to warp the shape of another players asset during RP
