Skartok's going to have a Premier and a President, so we get two executives. Anyway, how I choose my winners is based on what's going on in Skartok. The main issue after the Rebellion is that Gragastavia appointed a Lord-Protector for Skartok and they are, in effect, getting a king and that puts a knot in Woods's and Greenway's plan of a democracy. Thus ensues a debate of a republican government vs. a constitutional monarchy vs. an absolute monarchy.

The President is directly elected in a popular vote, while the Premier is indirectly elected from among high-ranking party members in the Legislature (Official name pending) by the members of the Legislature. I think I already know who is going to win Presidency, but that could still change. Parties haven't been very well defined at this point, so the big hero of the war* is probably going to get elected, since the loyalist population outnumbers the Wallayan one. (*Note: Not Benedict Quincy, Horatio Townsend, or Henry Ward.) Insert political spindoctoring here.

2017 Skartokian Presidential Election

A quick reminder from last year:
All citizens can cast one (1) ballot for the presidency. On it, the name of one candidate. At the end of the voting, votes are tallied and the candidate with the highest number of votes wins. The runner-up becomes one of the two vice presidents. The other vice president will be appointed after the election. That's all you need to know, so let's do this!* The sitting president, Atticus Greenway, is listed first, but after him, candidates are listed in order of party size.

-Incumbent President of Skartok
-Running for third term (if elected, 2018 would be Greenway's third consecutive year as president)
-From Pickett's Crossing
-Still favored as the "Man of the People"
-Has endorsement of Cyrus Woods
-Free trade is good trade (opposes tariffs)
-Supports foreign investment
-Passed a bill limiting lobbyist and union power in promoting legislation (favored by all three major parties)
-Wants to create a fund to support the development of domestic businesses
-Created central bank
-Wants to play both sides in the rivalry between the RU and Shemiki
-Intends to push through an education reform bill to standardize Skartokian school curriculum
-Managed to consolidate and centralize government bureaucracy in Pickett's Crossing, working with Premier Starrett
-Drew criticism for centralizing the government; his moves were thought to reduce provincial power by making the central government more powerful
-Criticized for not being able to control unemployment
-Accused of selling Skartok out to foreign companies
-Seen as a pushover leader, since he rarely stood up to Parliament
-Has a funny-looking nose
-Flip-flopped on tax policy: now supports 10% income tax and 3% transaction tax, instead of just transaction tax
-Oversaw increase in military capacity, despite promising to make military into primarily defensive force
-Complacent in domestic policy with non-Polatilians (upsets fundamentalist voters)

-Thought to be an all-around malcontent by opponents; supporters say he's no-nonsense

-Former Premier; resigned to run for President
-From South Karimek
-Favorite of Atticus Greenway while he was running the bureaucracy
-Accused of being a pushover; endorsed bills based on majority vote in Parliament (did not tow the party line, since he has no party)
-Proposed, passed, and implemented a bill to streamline the old bureaucracy into the new bureaucracy
-Served effectively and without major scandal as head of the bureaucracy
-Designed a parliamentary code of conduct that was adopted unanimously
-Many are unsure of his ability to lead, since his only experience is as an advocate and not a politician (apart from serving as premier, obviously)
-Very physically feeble; not putting on a good publicity show

*Actually, you do need to know one thing: Atticus Greenway obviously has a lot more detractors, since he's been president for longer than anyone else on this list.
