The Supreme Soviet of the Agausi SSR (Agausian: Agûsis SSR Ûmaǵlesi Sabčo ; Russian: Верховный Совет Агаусинской ССР,) was the supreme soviet (main legislative institution) of the Agausi SSR, one of the Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republics of the Soviet Union. The Supreme Soviet of the Agausi SSR was established in 1937 replacing the All-Agausi Congress of Soviets.
From the 1920s until the 1990 parliamentary elections, the Communist rule political structure took place in the framework of a one-party socialist republic governed by the Agausian Communist Party (AKP) as its only legal party - under the rule of the Soviet Union.

History[back to contents]
The Supreme Soviet of the Agausi SSR was established pursuant to constitutional reforms within the Agausi SSR, which changed the organization of main political organs of the republic. In theory, the Supreme Soviet was to be a legislative body that exercised power over the legislative branch of the Agausi SSR. In reality, the Supreme Soviet's power was limited to approving decisions made by the Agausian Communist Party. When the Agausia achieved independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, the name of the Supreme Soviet of the Agausi SSR was changed to the Parliament of Agauisa.
