Promoting Democratic Stability Act

The World Assembly Office initially supported the proposed "Promoting Democratic Stability Act", but upon further review and information provided in forum discussion, realised that section 2(c) prohibits member nations from instituting compulsory voting policies.

Such policies are justifiable, certainly within the scope of regulations compatible with a democratic society. Requiring electors to cast votes in free elections would ensure that minority voices are not given undue weight over that of a silent and less mobilised majority.

The proposal's prohibition of such a policy is why the Office sadly recommends a vote against "Promoting Democratic Stability Act".
