House of Ordek

The House of Ordek is one of the three Houses of Gaia. Its territories lies deep within the forests of Gaia, based around the great lake Nasala. The House of Ordek's animal sign is the duck. Its elemental sign is water, and its secondary sign is darkness.

"Defiance, Efficiency, Elegance." These are the words with which the House of Ordek was founded and that its members live by.

"En Garde!" Is the motto of the House of Ordek.

The House of Ordek, is headed up by the Progenitor, -Tulov as a semi-meritocratic Autocracy. Members of the House of Ordek rise and fall in line with their efforts and accomplishments, and are rewarded by the Progenitor accordingly.

The Seyat is the Arch-Sovereign of the House of Ordek, and in the absence of the Progenitor, it falls to the Seyat to manage the internal affairs and workings of Ordek, and to see that order is kept. Beneath the Progenitor and the Seyat, are the nobility of Ordek. There are three classes of nobility - Viceroys, Kvirator, and Sevirator. Viceroys are high class nobles who who hold a position either as a Patrician or a Teyrn within the region (Grace of Gaia) as a whole. Kvirator are high class nobles who hold a substantial position within the House of Ordek. Sevirator are low class nobles who hold small positions within the House of Ordek. Beneath the nobility, are the Avirator and the Mazrator. The Avirator are the middle class of the House of Ordek, a position earned by being a part of the house for longer than one month (30 days), and the Mazrator are the peasantry of Ordek, or most simply put, new members of the House. Kvirat, Sevirat, Avirat, and Mazrat, are the singular terms of these classes.

Beliefs of Ordek

The House of Ordek worships the sea and water in general, which is viewed by them as the mother of all life,
and referred to as the True Progenitor, or simply the Progenitor of Life. As such, water is held as sacred,
and those who would hold it in disregard are detested by members of the House of Ordek.
All members of the House of Ordek are given a burial at sea after their death, their name carved into a rock,
which is then cast into lake Nasala after the funeral, for it is believed that all which dies must return, nay,
shall one day return to the sea from which it came, and that by carving their name into the stone and casting
it to the water, the fallen may live forever in the memory of the sea.
In every day life, it is believed that through Defiance, there shall be Efficiency, and through Efficiency, there
shall be Elegance, that this is the purpose of life, and the key to further growth.

Ritual of Courage

The House of Ordek worships the sea and water in general, which is viewed by them as the mother of all life,
New members to the House of Ordek are taken to an area beneath the territory of Ordek, to the fountain of Gaia,
where they are surrounded in silence by the elders of Ordek, and must drink from the fountain, which is tainted
in the darkness of the depths. Those who muster the courage to drink from the fountain are rewarded with the
magic of water, and the darkness it entails, and may officially be welcomed into the House of Ordek.
However, those who too eagerly drink from the fountain, too eager to leap into the darkness' taint, are cast
out of the House of Ordek, for they have no love for the sea, nor for the life which it has given, only for their
own desires.
