New Kowloon Bay has a regulated market economy. Based on market exchange rates, New Kowloon Bay has one of the largest economies in the world, and the definite largest in the South Asian Sphere. The National Treasury, led by the Head National Treasurer, is in charge of all of New Kowloon Bay's financial affairs. The National Kowlooni Bank is New Kowloon Bay's national bank, and is responsible for mantaining that e-payments work the way they are supposed to work.
New Kowloon Bay has a GDP of 517 trillion Bay Dollars, and the GDP per capita is $190,639. It is one of the largest exporting countries in the world, being able to produce more than 1.5 times its needed materials due to its vast space territories. Its largest exports are food, beverages, agriculture and pharmaceuticals. It does not require imports, but it does import amounts of food, beverages, books and clothing. Its largest trading partners are with the Qing, Indochina and Japan. It dominates most of its partners in all of the organizations NKB is in, except the DDP, where they are mostly on equal ground with other members there.
With the colony of Point Chayenne producing large numbers of agricultural goods, it is one of New Kowloon Bay's main exports, and employs around half of Point Chayenne's labour force. NKB's agricultural industry is highly automated and mechanized, employing hydroponic strategies, economic farming policies and 'rebirthing' ground policies. NKB also has a large fishing industry, with large amounts of sustainable sea bream, trout and wild sea salmon being fished every year in the Coral Sea. Its mining industry is also sizeable, benefiting from materials like coal, petroleum, natural gas, salt, chalk, silicon and clay.
Currently, the historical powerhouse of New Kowloon Bay, the manufacturing industry has become smaller, making up 5% less of the GDP and employing 2.5% less citizens. Major industries include the tourism industry, the book publishing industry, the aerospace industry. In the latest census, the tourism industry generated around 37.5% of NKB's GDP. In the book publishing industry, various books were able to cross 10 million sold and gain the Diamond Reading Star from the NRABO. The Kowlooni motorsport industry is also a popular one with civilians, as the NKB Motorace never fails to get more than 100,000 viewers every race, and is endorsed by over 6,000 companies.
The aerospace industry is the largest industry, and it produces the most towards New Kowloon Bay. NLS Aerodynamics parts can be found in many defense aerospace projects around the world, and its nationally-owned KDA consistently produces top-quality fighter jets which are useful to the defense of NKB's airspace, and they have also expanded into spaceships. On the commercial side, Balday Aerodynamics has produced state-of-the-art airplanes and spaceships, like the BLYA-001, the BLYS-200 and the BLYS Brimfire.
With the benefit of tourism, aerospace and book publishing, the tourism industry has boomed to the top in recent years, snagging around 295.57 million tourists every year. This benefits the construction industry, as more and more hotels also have to be built, and NKB is ranked at the most visited destination on Earth, while Wellington ranks at the fourth-highest visited city.
There is a road network around the Earth Territories of New Kowloon Bay, with hyperlane transport making it easier to go from the Chinese departments to the Pacific Departments, and through to the Space Territories, equating over 1 billion kilometres of road. The H100, which encircles Miltonford, is the busiest highway in the world.
New Kowloon Bay also has an extensive railroad, with an railway wrapping around the departments of Canton and Tonkin, and another one stemming from the tunnels of Hong Kong to the bright sunlight of New Zealand. It also uses its hyperdrive facilities to have its dimensional 'space elevator' with a railway straight from Wellington and Hong Kong, to the Space Territories of New Kowloon Bay. Currently, the rail service is nationalized, but shops and restaurants in the rail stations are not.
As New Kowloon Bay is surrounded on most sides by the sea, it also has to have a sizeable freight transport. Around 65% of freight enters New Kowloon Bay by sea, with the New Wellington Port Docks handling most of the freight, which is also the largest port in NKB, followed by the Hong Kong Tsing Kwai Harbour Docks, the Auckland Ports, and the Hobart Grand Docks.
From July [REDACTED] to August [REDACTED], New Kowloon Bay's airports handled more than 1 billion passengers, far surpassing what the predictions had said. In that period, the three largest airports were the Miltonford Int'l Airport, the Hong Kong International Airport, and the Wellington-Hutt Int'l Airport, each taking over 200 million passengers each. For space travel, Miltonford Int'l Spaceport handled over 5 million passengers, the first of its kind. Wellington Airport is also the headquarters of the NKB flag carrier Kowloon Air, and also BayGoFly.
New Kowloon Bay is the world's second-largest producer of energy, and the fifth-largest consumer of energy. It is home to large energy companies like the DPPC, the Central Pearl Oil Company, and Union Milton Power. NKB is a current carbon zero nation, but it is a net exporter of fossil fuels, with 1 billion barrels of crude oil being found every year, and 200 million tonnes of coal in its space territories.
In all its renewable and some nonrenewable power, antimatter fusion power plants produce around 35% of NKB's energy, with hybrid dark matter plants producing another 15%. Renewable energy sources, like solar, wind, hydroelectic and tidal produce the rest of NKB's power, which is around 50%. NKB is one of the best sites for renewable power, stemming from its space territories with diverse temperatures and materials, and in renewable energies, geothermal power is the fastest growing power, which is around 61% of renewable energy.
