Sky Haven: Getting Started!

Sky Haven: Getting Started!

The basic mechanics of NationStates place you as the leader of your very own nation; by answering issues, you can change your nation's policies, classification, and statistics to create a utopia, a dystopia, to explore the options out there ... anything you want. And that's about it!

What makes NationStates special and unique is that so many communities have sprung up and grown that go far beyond the barebone structure. There are so many places you can choose to get involved - regional life, the World Assembly, trading cards, military gameplay, and so much more. For all the details about any question you could possibly have, you are encouraged to read through this comprehensive guide to NationStates.

Sky Haven is a NationStates region. You can move your nation to any region in order to interact with the communities there and take part in their activities. Like many other regions, Sky Haven is mainly based on offsite platforms - primarily our LinkDiscord server and our Linkregional forum.

Our Discord is where casual chat happens, as well as a major part of our government activities, such as planning Culture activities, discussing Foreign Affairs, and working out Interior initiatives. We also run a weekly game night there, open both to members of Sky Haven and to foreign visitors, which is a great chance to get to know people and have a lot of fun doing it!

You can apply for citizenship on both forums and discord, but we keep most administrative business on the regional forum, such as ambassador applications and the creation of forum embassies. Discussions that are too long or complex to take place on Discord, which is more suited to instant messaging for fast-moving conversations - for example, many discussions for the Lawgrove, our regional legislative body, take place there, as well as the drafting of news articles.

While many of these activities are internal to Sky Haven, Foreign Affairs are a crucial part of government activities and interactions with friendly regions are key. Joining a region and becoming involved there does not mean at all mean shutting yourself off from other parts of NationStates; quite the contrary!

If you want to get involved in Sky Haven, the most important thing to do is to Linkcreate a forum account and then Linkapply for citizenship. Being a citizen allows you to view and take part in government areas, contribute to Lawgrove discussions, and vote in elections.

It is also a good idea to join our LinkDiscord server and introduce yourself there. Everybody there will want to help you out if they can, so feel encouraged to talk and ask questions there!

There are a variety of ways for you to get involved once you are a citizen. Apply to Linkbe an ambassador from Sky Haven to other regions, volunteer to write articles for the Sky Haven Diurnalis, sign up to manually recruit, jump right into LinkLawgrove discussions, or see what else catches your fancy in the government areas on Discord!

Finally, you should consider joining the World Assembly and endorsing our Delegate, Rotasu in Flight - this increases Sky Haven's security and voice in the World Assembly.

Want further details? Our constitution - the Carta Caelorum - lays out the structure of our region and the rights of citizens. Have a look at the Master Dispatch for a compilation of useful links and resources. And lastly, if you ever have any questions, please do not hold back from asking, whether it's on the Regional Message Board, on the Linkforum, or on Discord!
