Embassy Requirements for the Democratic Socialist Assembly
Population Requirements
To make sure that our embassies remain active, we believe in a minimum size on a embassies' population; doing so not only helps boost the activity of the embassies, it also allows for a diverse range of opinions regarding leftist and left-oriented ideologies.
- Region Population Requirements:
We require a minimum residency of 100 nations.
The region is active.
Residency Requirements
To ensure that our prospective embassies are in line with our founding principles (“Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, Freedom”), we advice our prospective embassies share these principles, and hold resident nations to the same standard.
- Fascism, bigotry and fascist imagery:
It is adviced to have the anti-fascist tag and required to have an anti-fascist policy, which means having a process for kicking and banning any fascist nation or any nation with fascist or bigoted sympathies.
i.e. Any nation that uses fascist symbols or imagery on their nation page and can be presumed through other information on their nation page is considered fascist.
i.e. Any nation that advocates for fascist, bigoted or otherwise opressive ideas is considered fascist or sympathetic to fascism.
Ideology Requirements
The 'Ideological Requirements' are linked to our 'Residency Requirements', in the sense that a region seeking embassies must also atleast be one of the following ideologies: 'leftist,' 'left-oriented,' 'socialist,' or 'liberal'. This also matters for the requesting region's government. The DSA does strongly suggest and advises that the requesting region ensure the practice of "Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, and Freedom" in the governance of their region.
- Ideology Residency Requirements:
The prospective embassy should be considered left of center on the political spectrum.
Share the common belief of "Democracy, Equality, Solidarity, and Freedom".
Diplomacy Requirements
To make sure that good relations between the DSA and it's embassies are maintained and any potential issues are resolved diplomatically the DSA requires it's embassies to agree to the following mutual provisions:
- Mutual Diplomatic Provisions:
There shall be a channel of communications between the diplomats of the respective regions.
Both regions shall be treated with civility and respect.
Neither region will let personal issues between their respective members become a diplomatic issue.
The respective diplomats of each region may negotiate further specific embassy requirements.
If any general/specific embassy requirements are believed to be violated, the diplomatic communications channel should attempt to resolve this issue before any further action is taken.
Review Process
All incoming embassy requests will be review up being received by the Councillor of Foreign Affairs. An evaluation of the region will be made including checking population, regional tags, WFE entry and RMB activity. This evaluation will determine whether the requesting region will be considered for formal diplomatic relations.
Should the evaluation provide satisfactory results, the requesting region will be vetted to ensure the region meets all the requirements for formal diplomatic relations. If the region doesn’t meet the requirements, the Councillor of Foreign Affairs can appeal to the rest of the Council for further advice. If the requirements are met, the Council will be informed. The Members of Congress of the DSA will then vote on opening embassies, passing through a simple majority.
Closing Embassies
Existing embassies can be closed by a simple majority vote by the Congress.
