No more splits

A year ago, Alaska split into 5 countries due to a military coup and certain political parties having a "political monopoly" in some provinces. Right after the reunification a month later, a new law was enforced - parties cannot have a political monopoly in the provinces (more than 75/100 seats in the state parliaments) except it is the majority party in Alaska. This law was recently changed under the new government. Now all parties, even if it is the majority party, are forbidden from having a political monopoly in the state parliaments.

Volcano Islands

For years now have the Volcano islands been disputed territory between the Japano-Taiwanese Union and the Federal Alaskan Technocracy, to no surprise, as the territory lies exactly between the Alaskan Mariana islands and the Japano-Taiwanese Bonin Islands. Currently the Volcano islands are de-facto controlled by the Japano-Taiwanese Union. Now, after god knows how many years, the Alaskan Chancellor Sergey Yugov proposes a meeting with the Japano-Taiwanese president Yamasaki Masanori to discuss the situation in Saipan, the capital of the Mariana province.
