The House of Kjaer-Rostochen-Furton is a Droidenian dynasty founded by Cnut Kjaersgaard. It takes its name from Cnut, as well as Eirik Rostochen and Alix-Louise Furton. Because of the dynasty's close ties to the Droidenian Orthodox Church, it is exalted within the church. The current dynastic head is Eirik II, the Kongur of Droiden, King of Iceland, and King of Oldenburg-Frisia, as well as the former King of Droidenian Finland. Eirik is distantly in line to inherit the throne of France, through his relation to the House of Furton. However, his claim is considered weak by the French House of Furton as it is through a female line. The second-most senior branch of the dynasty is the Zapadoslav Line, headed by King Mesczyski of Zapadoslavia. The House was chosen to rule the Zapadoslav nation in 1867. The original line technically died with Kazimera, though her will stated that she wished for her descendants to keep her familial name. Her son, Ferdinand, would only rule for six years. His short reign led to chaos, and the eventual assassination of his own son. His second son, Maximilian, would stabilize the nation, and secured the Zapadoslav Monarchy's existence.

History

The Progenitor of the House was likely Sigtrygg, likely the father or an uncle of Cnut I. He was the final tribal leader of Droiden, being a Droite, which is generally considered to be where the name comes from, though it remains contested. It is said that he became the tribal leader through conquest. The dynasty originated as a pagan dynasty, but soon embraced Orthodox Christianity under the guidance of Leif I. It is said that he converted because he found Theodora of Athens, the daughter of the Byzantine Emperor. He converted, married Theodora, and helped initiate the Northern Crusades. In 1521, Kongurinde Ingrid died childless, leaving the throne to her nephew, who was of the cadet branch Rostochen. Eirik came to the throne, and adopted the name "Kjaer-Rostochen" His line would rule until 1811, which marked the beginning of the short-lived Two Droidens period. Droiden split into two nations upon the death of Harald II, between brothers Kristian and Valdemar IV. Valdemar would be approached by Napoleon Bonparte, who offered to aid Valdemar in reuniting the nations. Valdemar took up the offer, helping Napoleon make peace with Russia and defeating his brother during the Siege of Nidaross. Droiden was reunited under Valdemar, who technically co-ruled with his wife, Alix-Louise Furton, which is the reason for the Furton Name being added to the House of Kjaer=Rostochen. In 1821, the Protestant Duchy of Oldenburg consolidated power within Germany, eventually calling on Droiden and France, still in an alliance at the time, to help gain independence. Droiden was quick to send an envoy, though France was less so, likely due to the marriage between Victoria of Germany and Jean-Baptiste Furton, the brother of Alix-Louise. Eventually, an alliance was formed between Droiden and Oldenburg. Oldenburg gained independence, and was elevated to a Grand Duchy, though later became a Kingdom with the incorporation of Frisia. In the 1850s, King Augustin died childless, and the people of Oldenburg-Frisia elected Magnus III to be the King. In 1867, Magnus's son, Thorbjorn, was invited to rule the Kingdom of Zapadoslavia. Thorbjorn adopted the new name Maximilian upon his ascension to the Zapadoslav Throne. He married the sister of Duke Eirich of Moravia, Magdalena, and the couple had five children, four daughters and one son, named Bazyli, who would die at the age of 16 in an accident. Thorbjorn's first daughter, Kazimiera, who had married a questionably closely-related prince, Edgar of Lithuania, was chosen to succeed him. When he died in 1884, many were skeptical of their new queen. But, Queen Kazimiera would prove successful, ruling for nearly seventy-five years. When she passed away in 1959, many citizens who had come to love their queen came to mourn at the Palace of Prague. People who were born around the same time that the queen had been recalled the feeling of growing up alongside their queen, one man calling it "An experience that many people are unfortunate to not experience." Kazimiera had one child with Edgar, Ferdinand, who succeeded his mother at the age of seventy-seven. He would only rule for six years, before abdicating the throne to his son, Ferdinand II. Ferdinand II's short reign was widely considered to be disastrous, and he was assassinated only three years after his ascension. His brother, Maximilian II, would stave off revolution, and remains the King Emeritus, having abdicated in favor of his son, Meczyszyki.

The Oldenburg-Frisian Delegation

The Kingdom of Oldenburg-Frisia is in a personal union with Droiden, and remains independent, though is very likely to enter into the Droidenian Monarchy as a crown possession (like Iceland) or as a province (like Denmark, Norway, etc.). The delegatory envoy to Oldenburg-Frisia is comprised of two bishops (usually from Althior or nearby) and two secular leaders (usually dukes). Such a duty is rotated every four years.

As the Droidenian Kongur is commonly busy with matters pertaining to his titular domain, the delegation acts as an extension of his authority. Such a delegation resides in Oldenburg Palace.

(technically, both Kingdoms are independent, in a sort of very close alliance in which the King is the same, and just so happens to be Droiden's Kongur.

House of Kjaer-Furton-Zapadoslavia

The House of Kjaer-Furton-Zapadoslavia, often referred to as the House of Zapadoslavia, is the branch of the Kjaer Dynasty ruling in the Kingdom of Zapadoslavia. King Meczyszyki Kjaer-Furton-Zapadoslavia is the current head of the branch. King Maximilian I, the son of Magnus III of Droiden, married Magdalena of Moravia, and had five children with her. His son, Bayzli, died in an accident, throwing the nation into jeopardy, though an arrangement was made to allow Kazimera, Maximilian's first daughter, to reign as queen. She would rule for 75 years. Her death threw the nation into turmoil as her son, Ferdinand, who was 77 upon his ascension, abdicated and soon after died, leaving his unprepared young son, Ferdinand II, the throne. Ferdinand II would be assassinated 3 years into his reign, with his brother Maximilian taking charge and staving off revolution. He abdicated in 2027, leaving the throne to Meczyszyki.
