Death Penalty replaced with Cognitive Editing.

Death's Penalties Revised Act
By Imperial and Parliamentary Decree the death penalty has been replaced with mandatory cognitive reprogramming of violent behaviors after murder rendered obsolete via neural imprint backups.

"In light of the fact all murder has been trivialized by citizen backups and that all damage from a murder is now very short term and reversible and more measured in time in seconds or minutes rather than lifetimes, it is no longer prudent to keep this archaic method of punishment. Instead, once a violent offender is identified, they will simply be edited to constrain any repetition of the act. It will put sane limits on their execution of free will since they have demonstrated the ability to execute others, without terminating their lives." The Emperor stated.

All citizens not backed up to the national archives regularly are encouraged to consider doing so as soon as possible. This law will apply to all intelligent citizens and the protections or legal rights described will be applied to all intelligent entities within our borders.
