Grand Armada

History

In 2190 the Aphuan empire united after nearly 50 years of isolation. Immediately after trade began to move across the system, alien pirates began to ravage the exposed and weak cargo ships. In response, the Exalted Emperor created the Imperial Armada. After 8 years of secret construction and training drills on AI simulations, the navy was ready for battle. In 2198 the Imperial Armada fought off the pirates. After another decade of growth, it became the Pirate nation's undoing, deploying the Holy Army onto the planet. Now the Armada brings destruction system to system, subjugating Alien Scum for the Empire.

Leaders

Navarch Cincinnatus: The first High Navarch, Cincinnatus was responsible for repelling and eventually destroying the Crystal Alliance, a group of lithoid-like aliens who formed a mobile pirate nation. His tactical prowess established the Aphuan doctrine of AI ships. He served the Imperial Union for the next fifty years, serving the Goddess Empress for the rest of his life. He died at the ripe old age of 97, succumbing to old age.

Navarch Nefelli: The second and current Navarch, Nefelli has just started his career. He is known for his temper but holds a high tactical and strategic prowess. His future seems bright as he spearheads a campaign southward on the galactic map, unknowingly heading to the homeworld of Aphus.

Ship overview

The ships of Aphus are primarily AI-driven. Usually, humans aren't on vessels unless they are being transported or are manning important ships. Most ships in the navy are typically frigates or destroyers.

Destroyers

Taurus Class:
A heavy destroyer made to absorb damage. Its front armor allows the ship to spearhead forward assaults at the enemy. The ship holds 3 fusion reactors to power its heavy thrusters. The ship can hold its own in combat, 8 kinetic batteries, 4 forward laser batteries, and 3 missile silos make it formidable on the battlefield

Artemis Class:
Artemis Class destroyers are responsible for destroying stealth ships and hunting down weaker ships. The ship holds advanced scanners that allow the ship to detect stealth craft. Powered by 3 fusion reactors the ship's ordinance consists of 8 kinetic batteries, 6 forward laser batteries, and 4 missile silos that utilize heat-seeking missiles to target enemy thrusters.

Frigates

Hermes Class:
A fast-moving frigate commonly grouped in scout fleets. These ships have 3 fusion reactors powering the craft, giving its advanced thrusters a boost in their already high speeds. Armed with 4 Kinetic batteries, 2 Forward Lasers, and 1 heat-seeking missile silo.

Odyssey class:
Known for their incredibly long combat time these frigates can stay in service for hundreds of years. Built to last, Odyssey-class frigates hold 2 Fusion reactors, boasting 4 Kinetic batteries, 6 Forward lasers, and 2 heat-seeking missile silos. These ships are capable of high speeds, and good maneuverability for a half of a kilometer longship.

Cruisers

Hercules class:
Hercules Class, much akin to Taurus class Destroyers, are usually positioned to take on incredible amounts of hits. Despite having 5 fusion reactors, the ships are still slow-moving, probably one of the slowest ships in the Grand Armada, and their very limited in numbers. These ships hold a rather large amount of weaponry. Boasting 12 Kinetic batteries, 14 forward-lasers, and 7 Missile silos these ships can deliver powerful strikes to many ships.

Harpie-Class:
The main type of Cruiser, Harpie Classes are cheap to build and easy to deploy. Their medium armor allows the ships to hold off the enemy fire while moving at a fast pace. Armed with 10 Kinetic Batteries, 10 Forward-lasers, and 5 missile silos these ships are capable of attacking the enemy within reach. Unlike the Hercules class, the ship holds 4 fusion reactors.

Battleships

Orion-Class:
Those who claim to be unafraid quiver at the sight of the Aphuan battleships. The main class, Orion-class, brings terrors throughout the milky way galaxy. Three kilometers long and armed with 25 Kinetic batteries, 20 Forward-lasers, and 15 missile silos the ship also utilizes a small garrison of fighter squadrons for scouting. One CPC cannon on either side of the ship fires a huge blast of plasma with devastating force. The CPC (Charged Plasma Cannons) are mostly used for artillery bombardment, as the shot is rather slow, but can be utilized to disperse clustered fleets in the event of intense combat.

Carriers

Arya-Class:
The Arya class is a massive carrier. With only two in existence, these ships hold thousands of fighters. Typically, only the emperor and the High Priest are present on these ships. Spanning 10 kilometers long and 3 wide this behemoth requires incredible protection. It is powered by 12 Fusion reactors and 4 Anti-matter reactors to move the massive ship. Because it is so large, the ship is forced to drift, watching as its escort fleet assaults enemy positions. Armed with 100 Kinetic batteries, 100 Forward laser batteries, and 50 Missile silos the ship is filled with a massive amount of AA cannons all around it to protect itself from fighters and bombers. The industrial forge inside allows the ship to forge a massive, but limited, quantity of AI-driven fighters. Arya-Class carriers hold massive cargobays, and end up slowing the ship down by nearly 50%, leaving it exposed in combat.
