Please fill out the following form in a dispatch:
Name of your nation:
Please give us a brief overview of your nationís history:
Please give us a brief overview of your nationís culture:
Please tell us about your nationís leader(s):
Please give us your nationís map claim:
Your World Assembly Nation:
For the two brief overviews these need to be between 200 and 500 words describing your nation.
Any nation without a World Assembly Nation in Warzone Sandbox and Endorsing the Delegate, or deployed in a military operation on behalf of Warzone Sandbox will not be allowed a map claim.
Please send a link to this to any RP mod; who will get back to you within 48 hours; with either a message notifying you of your acceptance or letting you know about anything that needs to be changed.
NOW THAT IíVE BEEN ACCEPTED WHAT DO I DO?
Now that youíve been accepted you can begin to RP on the Atua regional message board. We recommend making your first post something of an introduction. Describe your nation and your leader. Describe your nationís guiding principles. You can include a link to your dispatch application; to give people more information.
While itís not absolutely required we recommend you write your posts in the third person past tense. This means your posts should look like this:
<MyNation> was shocked at the unwarranted aggression of <EnemyNation>. In response to their violation of <mynation>ís borders, <mynation> dispatched several regimens of their army to secure the border and repel any further trespasses.
And not like this:
We are shocked at the unwarranted aggression of <Enemynation>. We nuke them.
- - -
Any RP post that is a single sentence or less will not be accepted; and our moderators will suppress and void them.
You must also create a dispatch that will detail events in your nation. You must update this frequently so that it provides an accurate history of your nation as time progresses in Atua.
HOW DO I DECLARE WAR?
Iím so glad you asked. Before you declare war you should know that declaring war is a costly endeavor for all involved parties. As a penalty for declaring war your nation will lose 10% of itís population. This means that if you have a population of 10 million people 1 million of them will die by the time the war is over. Thatís the minimum. That is not counting any additional casualties which may be negotiated by you and your opponent(s).
WAIT MY OPPONENT(S) GET TO HELP DECIDE HOW MANY CASUALTIES I HAVE?
Yes. Yes they do. As a prerequisite to declaring war you must telegram or otherwise contact the nation youíre going to be declaring war on. The pair of you must work out the following things:
Why war is being declared.
Who is going to ďwinĒ (if anyone is going to win).
How many casualties each side will suffer (this is on top of the 10% minimum, nobody will suffer 0 additional casualties).
What the winner will get from the loser at the end of the war.
What the loser will get from the winner (if anything) at the end of the war.
Which mod you will be submitting your information to.
These terms must then be submitted to one of the RP mods by all major participants; and they will either approve or deny your war. If your war is approved you may go ahead with it on the RMB. If it is not approved the mod will tell you why; and you will have a chance to fix the issues; once you have you may submit the information again.
If you are going to war with one of the RP mods; you must submit your information to a different mod.
MY INFORMATION WAS APPROVED WHAT NOW.
Have fun. RP a war that makes sense. Your war must last at least 10 posts from each major contributor (the two nations going to war), and one in-character season (see below); additional involved nations must make at least two posts: entering the war, and leaving it. Whatever else they want to contribute is up to them; and you. Work it out with them.
Surrenders must be negotiated in-character. You cannot just say Ďthe war is overí after youíve reached the minimum required posts. You must work out the terms of surrender and victory. This should take the form of an actual negotiation with representatives of the winning nation and the losing nation meeting in person to discuss things.
HOW DOES MY POPULATION RECOVER?
Slowly. Your population recovers by 2% of itís maximum population for every in-character season that passes. This means that a nation with a maximum population of 1 million people will recover 20,000 people per season.
Your population growth may stop whenever youíd like it to; so if you want to RP a small nation your population recovers to the point you want it to; and then it stops; it grows until you want it to be done and then it stops.
I WANT TO SABOTAGE ANOTHER NATION, HOW DO I DO THAT?
Great question. Itís important to remember one simple thing: You control everything that happens in your nation. Nobody can do anything inside your nation without first clearing it with you. Likewise you canít do anything inside someone elseís nation without first clearing it with them. So the first step is to telegram that nation. Explain to them what you want to do and how you want to do it for example:
ďHey <othernation>, I noticed that your nation is holding elections and my nation would really like to help <candidate> win. I would like to have my nation provide funding to organizations that are supporting <candidate> so that they can use it to support the campaign. Is this okay?Ē
Then you wait for them to reply. If they are okay with it you can go ahead with your plan. If theyíre not okay with it then youíre out of luck. You can of course ask if there is any way to make what you want to do work (perhaps instead of providing funding to corporations you could create a bunch of social media bots to boost the candidateís visibility) but if theyíre just not interested in letting it happen then itís not going to happen. Which is unfortunate because Iím sure it was a great plan.
Remember! One of the most important elements in RP is cooperation. Youíre perfectly within your rights to refuse to let anyone do anything to your nationÖ but if you refuse everyone when they want to do things in your nation, you have no right to complain if nobody ever lets you affect their nation.
I WANT TO HAVE A TRADE TREATY HOW DO I DO IT?
Another great question. Youíre on a roll. As with so many other things the first step is to reach out to the nation youíd like a trade agreement with. Send them a telegram and be like Ďhey, I want to make a trade treaty with your nationí, and then work out what that treaty is going to look like. Figure out the following things:
What your nation is getting.
What the other nation is getting.
And then send it to a moderator to approve of; unless a trade agreement is completely unrealistic your trade agreement will definitely be approved.
If you are forging a trade agreement with a moderatorís nation; you must send it to a different mod.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO WITHOUT GETTING SOMEONE ELSEíS PERMISSION?
Yes. Anything to do with your nation can be done without anyoneís permission. You are the god of your nation, and what you say goes. Within reason.
In addition there are any number of things you can do outside of your nation without permission from other nations. Once every in-character year you can colonize an additional map claim, this will let you expand your nation IF your nation has a high enough population to support a colony (there will be more about this later).
You can do certain diplomatic things; like denouncing an enemy leader, or praising an ally. You can put a bounty on an enemy leader. Anything that does not materially affect the nation; and would be realistic for your nation to do can be done. You canít assassinate another nationís leader (without their permission), but you can let it be known that your leader is willing to pay someone to do it.
WAIT YOU SAID I CAN DO ANYTHING I WANT TO MY NATION WITHIN REASON, WHAT DO YOU MEAN?
Exactly what I said. If you want your nation to be ravaged by a virulent plague; go for it. If you want your nation to devolve into civil war or split in two; have at it. Keep in mind that everything you do has consequences though. If your nation is ravaged by a plague; then your population will drop.
A civil war is still a war, and the information required of any other war must be submitted to a moderator. Splitting your nation in two will require a moderator to change your map claim; so you need to let us know that itís happening beforehand.
But aside from things that moderation obviously needs to know about; you can do pretty much whatever you want. You can hold elections, protests, you can change government systems. Your nation is your playground; have sensible fun with it.
If youíre unsure if a moderator needs to know about something; ask them. Theyíll let you know.
ALRIGHT. NOW TELL ME ABOUT COLONIZATION.
Alright. Alright. Geez.
First there are some things you need to know: colonization is a privilege, and not a right. A moderator must approve your colonization plans.
A moderator may refuse your colonization plans if:
You do not have the population for it.
You have too many OOC strikes for misconduct on your record.
You have done something so heinously stupid that Iíve not been able to comprehend it while writing these guidelines.
You have gone to war in the last in-character year.
You may colonize an additional map claim once every in-character year (see below). Your population must be above 90% of its maximum.
You must keep a colonization journal. Your colonization journal must be written on the RMB in a series of at least 5 posts; though more effort is always appreciated. You must explore your new map claim, set up your first colony, detail the development of the colony, your colony must face a new hardshipÖ and there must be one additional post with content of your choosing; relating to your colony management. You must make at least one of these posts every in-character season. These posts must also be kept in a dispatch, that moderation can check.
Regardless of how many posts you make during a given in-character season colonization will last for at least 5 seasons.
Failure to keep your colonization journal (and the dispatch) will result in colonization failing, and you will lose 10% of your population.
If your nation goes to war during the colonization process your colony will fail and you will lose an additional 5% of your population (on top of the 10% lost for going to war).
While your nation is colonizing; your national population does not increase/recover.
Upon the successful completion of a colony your maximum population will increase; and your population will increase at a rate of 20% per season until you have reached your new maximum population.
HOW DOES IN CHARACTER TIME WORK
Iím so glad you asked; Iíve been looking forward to explaining it.
Every seven days out of character is one season in character. There are four seasons per in-character year. This means that; roughly, one in-character year is equal to one out-of-character month.
IF TIME ADVANCES SO QUICKLY DOES THAT MEAN TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES QUICKLY AS WELL?
No. Technology is roughly stagnant. Your nation can start out behind in terms of technology and progress to modern day tech, or start out at modern day tech and never advance. Itís your choice.
I WANT TO PLAY A SMALL NATION BUT I STILL WANT TO COLONIZE CAN I?
No. You either want to play a small nation, or a large nation. You canít play both at the same time.
WHAT IS MY NATIONíS MAXIMUM POPULATION?
For every territory you have claimed on the map, your nationís population goes up by 1 million. This means that your nation will start out with a maximum population of 1 million; once you complete your first colony your max population will go up to 2 million, your second colony will make it 3 millionÖ and so on.
WHAT IF IíM NOT INTERESTED IN COLONIZING BUT I WANT A LARGER POPULATION
Sure; you can pack your people in. Thatís fine. Instead of submitting a colonization plan, send a moderator a note that youíd like to increase your max population without colonizing. As long as youíd otherwise qualify for a colony the moderator should have no problem approving it. Your population will then increase like it would if youíd completed a colony.
I WANT TO DO SOMETHING THAT THERE ARE NO RULES FOR, CAN I?
The short answer is no. The long answer is maybe. If you have an idea for something that isnít outlined in these rules; send a telegram to a moderator about it and the RP mod team will discuss it and get back to you. Chances are, if we want to allow it, weíll have to come up with rules for it; so donít expect an answer right away. Which means you may have to wait to do your thing until we come up with those rules.
ONE OF THE MODERATORS IS BEING SUPER BIASED AGAINST ME AND TREATING EVERYTHING I DO LIKE ITíS WRONG. WHAT DO I DO?
Send One Small Island a telegram or a message on discord. Detail the problem that youíre having, and the moderator that youíre having the problem with. Include screenshots. Then be patient while I look into it.
HOW DO I EARN OOC STRIKES AGAINST MY NATION?
OOC strikes are strikes issued against your nation for breaking the rules, failing to follow the proper procedure for an event where there are no rules, or basically just being a dick in the RP. You can earn OOC strikes for godmoding (RPing in a manner that has you controlling other peopleís nations) or power playing (RPing in a manner that gives you information your nationís leader would not otherwise have or which makes other nations completely powerless against you in any or all respects). Failure to abide by moderator decisions can also earn you OOC strikes.
Harassing mods for a ruling or answer will also earn you strikes.
HOW DO I REMOVE OOC STRIKES AGAINST MY NATION?
Donít break the rules. Thereís no set way of removing these strikes. Some strikes will count against you forever, some will come off your record. It really depends on how long youíve been RPing with us, how long itís been between strikes, and how outrageously stupid your violation of the rules has been.
Otherwise strikes will come off with you showing us that youíve learned from your mistakes.
