A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE PEOPLE'S FEDERATION
BASIC DETAILS FOR THE CASUAL VIEWER

The four "Leaders of the New World" - Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Kaszar Turaniski, and Mozhkin Turaniski - play a large role in Reinkalistani ideology and propaganda.

Born in the raging inferno of revolution, the People's Federation of Reinkalistan stands as testament to a project both fascinating and terrifying. It is the brainchild of the "Revolutionary Father" Kaszkar Turaniski, and the even more radical theories of his son. The P.F.R. is not really a nation in its own right. It is a catalyst for an idea, and the ambitions of an emerging political dynasty. Governed effectively by the all-pervading grip of the Reinkalistani Communist Party, order is kept through the loyalty of fanatics and a swift dedication to smothering any and all dissent. In this "New World" of the party, life is innately ideological. Every minute's labour takes on a political quality, one more brick paved into the gleaming road to eternal prosperity. Communism has been cultivated into more than a mere objective: it is a process, a national activity and a mode of life.

The P.F.R. came into being in 1964, as a result of revolutionary activism against the incumbent monarchy. Four of eight provinces sided with the revolutionaries, led primarily by Kaszar Turaniski and Horath Devask. This revolution was made possible by an alliance between the anarchist, orthodox Marxist-Leninist, and "spiritual socialist" factions of the Reinkalistani left at the time. This flimsy alliance was employed against the northern half of the country, but faced disaster when the anarchists split during a decisive battle for the fate of the subcontinent. With the remaining socialist faction now pressed on all fronts, alongside NATO intervention on behalf of the monarchy, it took international aid from the Warsaw Pact and steely determination by the revolutionaries to claw a victory from the jaws of defeat in the battle of Tosdodadak. From then, a hard-fought campaign secured a large majority of Reinkalistan for the P.F.R., with the war being fought to a bitter, grueling stalemate. While peace was never properly attained in writing, all armed conflict had effectively ended by 1966.

Following a brief power struggle, and the subsequent victory of the spiritual socialists, the country came to be dominated by the "Doctrine of Enlightenment". It essentially appropriated the categories of capitalism and socialism, with defining features for each; the former represented the "old world", which was seen as atheist, wicked, and decadent. The latter represented the "new world", which was said to be spiritual, honest, and pure. The intention of the P.F.R. has been, since the codification of the Doctrine of Enlightenment, to cultivate this new world and - when the time is right - use it against the imperialists of the old, shattering their nations and ushering in the total victory of the working masses against the oppressors. To this end of exporting the revolution, the military is considered a very important institution in the P.F.R., operating not only as a defensive force, but also participating in construction work and general maintenace of civilian infrastructure.

Life is also dominated by paramilitary institutions under the general control of the Office for Ideology, which has effectively supplanted much of the original state authority in many aspects of national administration. Acting as a police force, military police, civil service, and academic institution, it has effectively produced itself sub-divisions to render itself a "state inside a state", with the Office's operator being only second to the General Secretary himself. At least two years' service in the Ideological Office or armed forces is compulsory, with strict punishments handed out to those who do not comply. All comes second to the priorities of the state apparatus and, more importantly, the ideology it represents. Discipline is strict in these units, with disobedience resulting in physical punishment.

The P.F.R. continues to be an pariah internationally. Styling itself as a shield against the influences of both the occident and the orient, it experiences exceptionally poor relations with NATO, as well as China's sphere of influence in the so-called "East Asian Defense League". Its only stable ally is found in the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose position in Europe is defended by a large force from the Reinkalistani Red Army. The border with the North remains heavily militarised, but the P.F.R.'s rapidly expanding nuclear program has decreased the threat of invasion to the point that the Revolutionary Defense Force can be deployed in other locations, allowing for a great deal of power projection. This is also facilitated by the massive and modern Red Fleet, a clear rival to the USA's own navy. This has unsettled the US itself, and drawn the western world into a more standoffish and militaristic mindset.
