The NCNSA (One-Man) Institute for Consumption, Gastronomy, and Vomit: Are hot dogs sandwiches?

I believe that hotdogs are not a sandwich. First reason: categorization. The opponent will no doubt tell you that a hot dog is categorically a sandwich. However, today, this isn’t the case. According to the Eric Mittenthal, the president of the National Hot Dog Council, “a hot dog is its own unique item that exceeds the sandwich category.” This quote means that hot dogs are way out of the league of sandwiches, just like every girl on the planet for me, thus it would be demeaning to the hot dog to call it a sandwich. To say hot dogs are sandwiches would be the equivalent of saying that today’s President of the United States is “an ugly, dim-witted white guy” or that a black kid living in downtown Chicago is “a future Crip.” Hotdogs transcend the sandwich category: indeed, hotdogs only trail sandwich consumption by a little more than half, despite the sandwich having a history 5 times longer than the hotdog as well as being a much larger category than the hot dog.
Second: Public Opinion. Two out of three Americans believe that a hot dog is in its own category. According to famous hot dog eater Takeru Kobayashi, who managed to shove 110 hot dogs down his gullet in 10 minutes for the World Record and also happens to be the punchline of a lot of gay jokes says: “the hot dog is American. Sandwiches are not American. They're different. Second of all, a hot dog is like a pop idol. Hot dogs are cute. It's a pop image—everyone knows what a hot dog is.” Famous chefs Racheal Ray, George Shea, and the late Anthony Bourdain all vehemently disagree against putting hot dogs in the same category as the lowly sandwich. This is important, because according to Dinesh d’Souza, an idea isn’t defined by the dictionary, but rather by the practitioners that the idea applies to. For example, communism has turned out not to be defined by Marx aka I can’t afford an effing razor, but the crazies known as Lenin, Mao, and Maduro, along with their crowd of totally not corrupt, totally not coerced “supporters”. Thus, the public opinion will beat whatever dictionary definition the opponent can muster up. Even if you don’t buy the opinion of the Indian felon, we live in a democratic society. Ideas are defined by public opinion, which clearly happens to be against the conflation of hot dogs and sandwiches. For these reasons, I strong believe that hot dogs and sandwiches are separate entities.
