The proposal put forward proposes a ban on capital punishment in member states, with exemptions for wartime crimes. The WA Office supports the proposal as it believes the imposition of the death penalty is an attempt to legitimise state-sanctioned killings, something that must not be accepted. Numerous studies after study have shown that the death penalty does not serve as a strong deterrent against the commission of crimes. No legal system is completely immune to error. We believe that the risk of executing even one innocent person makes the imposition of the death penalty unacceptable. The Rejected Realms WA Office recommends a vote FOR “Death Penalty Ban”.
