Tizona Class Nuclear Submarine

Overview

The Tizona Class is the main nuclear attack submarine of the Dernellian navy, 140m long, and 10500 metric tones of displacement. Armed with eight 551mm torpedo tubes. A minimum crew of 78 people working a 12 hour-2 shift schedule. A powerful pump-jet can propel it at 35 knots underwater, though it rarely goes faster than 15 for stealth purposes, which is powered by a nuclear reactor that requires minimal input and cools through natural flow. Covered in thick rubber to reduce sonar signature.

Size,Displacement,Crewing,Speed/Range,Depth

Size: Fairly large at 140m long, and 15m wide.

Displacement: Very heavy, and very large, when submerged the Tizona displaces 10,500 metric tones of water.

Crewing: A minimum crew of 78 people will have to work a 12 hour-2 shift schedule. A maximum crew of 122 people working a 8 hour-3 shift schedule. The Tizona usually operates at 102 people.

Speed/Range: The Tizona class is propelled by a pump-jet propeller. The propeller can push the Tizona to a max speed of 35 knots, but it usually cruises at 15 knots. The Tizona has a theoretically unlimited range due to a nuclear reactor and its endurance is only limited by food due to electrolysis. The nuclear reactor produces 32 MWh of electrical energy.

Depth: Test depth is 512m

Armaments

Primary: The primary and only weapon of a Tizona class is the eight 551mm torpedo tubes. The Tizona can carry 40 of either munitions: The Hill's Armory LRSSM-520-450, or the Hill's Armory AST-551-300. It by standard carries 10 missiles of the CEB-VS variant, and 30 torpedoes of the PBF-S variant.

Combat Systems

Combat Information Recorder: The CIR has 2 parts. Current Mission Information, or CMI, and the Data On Previous Engagements, or DOPE. The DOPE is information that the individual CMI has collected on previous engagements with other enemies, it will mark and remember effective methods of disposal of targets, and their common tendencies in battle. The information is rarely streamed to the central hub in Illaria, save for when in an emergency. This information will be compiled into the Central Combat Data Base, or CCDB, and be pulled for future missions and loaded into the CMI. The CMI will take important information from the CCDB and use the information in upcoming missions.

Detection: The Tizona class submarine has no active sonar, but has several conformal passive flank sonars, and by timing the delay of sound between the passive sonars a direction and range can be gained. A 360o camera is mounted on the mast along with a few antennae that are usually retracted.

Countermeasures: The Tizona has six reloadable 96.9mm countermeasure torpedo launchers. Utilizing a thermal charge to produce heat and noise to attract incoming torpedoes, the countermeasure produces 'white noise', also known as broadband masking.

Other

RUMUV bay: The Remote UnManned Underwater Vehicle bay, holds one Unmanned Minesweeping Underwater Vehicle (UMUV) by standard, but can be swapped to other vehicles such as an Advanced Narcotics Semi-submersible (ANS) as needed. Have you seen my blackmarket rates?
