The fall of Neiland

After a long and drawn out war with the Normanians, it wasn't the military action that toppled mainland Neiland and its surrounding island states it was the attrition. With the economy decimated, trade routes all but cut off and the government in ruins, Neiland was forced to surrender and become nothing more than a Normanian puppet state.

After thirty years of mistreatment and neglect, the people of Neiland and a few neighbouring smaller nations just to the southwest (Wessax, Skanda and the Holy Republic of Maltloav) who were also assimilated into the Normanian Empire during the campaign, could take no more.

Several failed rebellions brought the Neilish plight to the worlds attention. Finally when the Normanian Empire was forced to disband after their defeat in the Great War, the Neilish people embarked on a relentless campaign of political lobbying. Their voices were thankfully heard and their land returned as they were released from the throttling grip of Normania.

The people had been given a second chance.
