The Order of the Sea Cat

The Order of the Sea Cat

Order Device:

Estimated number: 293,999,000

"Relax, or we will show our claws."

History
Originally created as the primary liason between Tethys 13 and the rest of Osiris, the Order of the Sea Cat has shown a strong cultural drift over the centuries. Once serious in all things with a severe work ethic, the many years without them being required steadily sapped their motivation and turned them into what they are now. The modern Order of the Sea Cat prefer to laze around reading books, waiting for the opportunity for great deeds to come to them rather than the reverse. They are the keepers of the nation's oldest traditions, and it frustrates many other Tethysi to no end that they somehow manage to carry out all of the tasks expected of them without breaking their relaxation. Their Order Commanders sleeping during meetings of the Grand Council has almost become a new tradition in and of itself. However, there is one duty that draws out their atrophied energy - the protection of their allies, particularly those of Osiris, or who have a long history with Tethys 13. When mobilised en masse, the Order of the Sea Cat displays a passion and strength the rival of any other, if not greater.

Political stance
Traditionalist, but primarily laissez-faire.

Stereotypes
Lazy.

Order Commander

Kyua Chaekosspawn

Age: 37

Height: 166cm

Epithets:
Tombwatcher, Cateye

Personal Device:

History
How one rises through the ranks of the order least interested in glorious deeds is the subject of much scholarly debate within Tethys 13, and Kyua has become the latest in a long line of Order Commanders to refuse to help resolve it. Their career has been one of consistent inconsistency, long stretches of seeming insignificance punctuated by moments of desperate valour, but before being promoted to the upper echelons of the order, their achievements in the latter cases were no more remarkable than those of their peers. It is in the peaceful times that their true successes can be seen, but they are far from dramatic. It sounds insufficient, but it may well be that they rose through the ranks simply by being a pleasant, inoffensive person, completing their own work flawlessly while always being willing to lend aid to their peers, and never giving others cause to dislike them. Some theorise they were promoted simply because they were one of the few within the order with a true work ethic, but that is pure conjecture. After reaching those heights however, Kyua blossomed. More and more mighty achievements fell at their uninterested feet, and even the other Order Commanders have had to admit that Kyua has improved the efficiency of the entire government. When praised, challenged or questioned however, they will always respond the same apathetic way, for they have no interest in accolades from others. Their autobiography will be all the legacy they need, and will show a life devoted to serenity and satisfaction.

Equipment
Kyua carries a Wingspear and backup Candleblade and wears Half-Plot Armour along with the Paradoxicat Mantle, which grants them a chance to revive from the dead when unobserved, up to a maximum of nine times per wearer. It takes nine months to acclimatise to a wearer, and grants them reduced ageing.

Personality
Kyua's temperament closely matches that of their order - relaxed, calm, lazy even, but quick and sharp when spurred to action and ferocious when pushed. Whether this is truly their personality or simply a persona they have adopted, only they know. Their preferred genres are history, mythology and fiction related to those.

Relationships
Mutually liked by the more cordial Order Commanders, mutually ignored by those less so.
