THE GOVERNMENT OF CAMRIDIA

Overview
Updated: November 2020
Camridia is a province in the north east of Serpens Land. With a population of just under two million inhabitants, it is Serpens Land's fourth most populous province. The capital of Camridia: Broadway is also the largest city in the province, home to just over one million. Camridia shares a border with two other provinces: Atonia to the south, and Northland to the west. Camridia borders the North Mesder Sea, and is the only Serpens Land province not to border the Eaton Sea. Camridia has a land area of TBD, making it the TBD largest province in Serpens Land in terms of land area.
The first European settlement in the area was Georgetown, established in 1857, which is now known as Broadway. In 1907, Serpens Land gained self government, and was divided into two territories: Northern Territory, and Fort Charlotte Territory. Atonia, Camridia, and Northland were originally districts of Northern Territory. The District of Camridia experienced relativity little development until the early 20th century where it played a large role in the Edrium Rebellion, eventually leading to the creation of the Republic of Erodesia. In 1958, a year after Serpens Land was reunified, Camridia was formally established as a province of Serpens Land under the Provinces Act of 1958.
The economic mainstay of Camridia has historically been resource extraction, primarily logging, farming, and mining. However, it has become increasingly dominated by tourism and outdoor recreation. Employment in the resource sector has been falling steadily since the 1980s, and most new jobs are centred in the construction and retail/service sectors.
Because of the varying geography of Camridia, it's climate varies greatly depending on the location within the province. The south end of Camridia has a humid continental climate, with the northern end primarily having a Subarctic climate. The south of Camridia primarily consists of flat plains, while the northern end is mountainous. Camridia is bisected by the Atkinson Sound, separating the northern end from the southern end. Camridia also contains Serpens Land's largest lake: Lake O'Leary.
