Your Learner's License is the fist step in the driver's licensing process. You can get your Learner's License on your 16th birthday.

Here's how to get your Learner's License:

• If you are under 18, have a parent or guardian sign consent

• Book a written knowledge test, take, and pass the test at the nearest approved testing location

• Pass a vision screening test

Once you have earned your Learner's License, you:

• Must drive with a qualified supervisor (someone who holds their full license, and is 21 years or older) in the car

• May only drive from 5:00 AM to Midnight

• Must display an L plate on the back of your vehicle

• Are permitted to carry one passenger (other than your qualified supervisor) in the vehicle

You can get your Novice License after a year of safe driving with your Learner's License.

Here's how to get your Novice License:

• Book an in car road test at least three months in advance

• Take, and pass the Novice License road test with an approved testing agency

Once you have earned your Novice License, you:

• May drive by yourself without a qualified supervisor

• May carry one passenger of any age or qualification

• Must display an N plate on the back of your vehicle

You can get your Full License after one year of safe driving with your Novice License. This is the final stage of your licensing process. Once you have your Full License you can drive without Novice or Learner restrictions, tests or N or L plates.

Here's how to get your Full License:

• Book an in car road test at least three months in advance

• Take, and pass the Full License road test with an approved testing agency

Once you have earned your Full License, you:

• May drive by yourself without Novice or Learner restrictions
