Roleplay Policy - Selenid System Map

Welcome to the Selenid System!

The Selenid System is the only planetary system known to have intelligent life. It is composed of 10 planets, an asteroid belt and numerous natural satellites and space stations, all of which orbit a G-type main sequence star. While much of the inner system has been explored, the outer system and beyond remain little explored and have only been observed through unmanned probes and, since a few years ago, by a few manned missions.

What planets are there in the Selenid System?

There are ten planets in the Selenid System, only three of which are habitable:

  • Planet 1: a rocky, barren world, Planet 1 is the smallest planet in the system, but its cratered surface and reddish apeparance make it an attractive destination for exploration.

  • Planet 2: permanently covered in thick clouds, Planet 2 has a highly hostile surface, affected by a severe greenhouse effect that makes direct exploration, even by unmanned probes, a risky endeavour.

  • Sorana: one of three habitable planets, Sorana is mostly covered by oceans and is known as the homeworld of the Lyseans and the Caedri, two of the system's sapient species.

  • Janus: a tidally-locked world, Janus has one side permanently facing the star and the other side permanently facing away from it. While it is not fully habitable, there are some temporary settlements in the strip of twilight between the dayside and the nightside.

  • Vesta: the third habitable planet, Vesta has more landmasses than its sister planet and is known as the homeworld of the Humans, the system's third sapient species and the focus of many events in the system.

  • Planet 6: the largest planet in the system, Planet 6 is a gas giant known for its colourful bands in its outer atmosphere and prominent storm systems.

  • Planet 7: a mid-sized gas giant, Planet 7 has a reddish colour due to its high temperatures.

  • Planet 8: the second largest planet in the system, Planet 8 has a blue colour due to its high levels of methane and is also known, much like its larger counterpart, for its storm systems.

  • Planet 9: the smallest of the outer giants, Planet 9 has a high concentrations of ammonia, methane and other icy gases in its atmosphere.

  • Planet 10: the second smallest planet, Planet 10 is a rocky world perpetually covered in ice, making it a particularly reflective body despite its distance from the star, as well as one of the most intriguing destinations in the system.

What is Vesta?

Vesta is the fifth planet and the homeworld of Humans, a species known for their ingenuity and eagerness to explore the unknown. Humans have always struggled to secure peace and prosperity, experiencing three world wars between 1893 and 2023. Following the end of World War III (2017-2023), the existing system of world powers collapsed and the remaining countries established the World Society, an organisation dedicated to keeping peace and fostering international cooperation.

Infused with a newfound purpose, humanity looked to the starts and began its spacefaring journey:

  • 2043: Home One, the first truly global space station, is officially inaugurated.

  • 2057: a Sartorian-led international crew lands on Apollo, Vesta's only natural satellite, marking the beginning of Apollo's permanent human presence.

  • 2070: the first astronauts land on Janus, following a series of probes and sample return missions.

  • 2081: the Aurora IV lands on Sorana, carrying a team of scientists and diplomats to establish first contact with the Lyseans and Caedri.

  • 2105: the first astronauts flyby Planet 6, marking the first time that humans venture into the Outer Selenid System.

How many countries are there in Vesta?

There are 54 countries in Vesta, listed in the spoilered table below. If your country is not yet listed, make sure to complete the Global Information Survey, so that the table can be updated and your country is allowed to participate in international affairs.

How does one register their country in Vesta?

Quite simple! If your country is not yet listed, just complete the Global Information Survey, so that the table can be updated and your country is allowed to participate in international affairs. The dispatch below will give you all the information you need about completing the Survey:

.
REGION OF SELENE
Roleplay Policy - Global Information Survey

.

Thank you for your interest in the Global Information Survey!

This dispatch contains information about the Global Information Survey (GIS), the one way in which you can register to participate in our roleplay. The whole process is very simple and will even help you figure out the kind of country that you want to roleplay.

IMPORTANT: This dispatch contains information about the gameside version of the Global Information Survey. For information on the forum version of the Survey click Linkthis link.

What is the Global Information Survey?

GIS is our country registration form. It allows us to keep a list of which countries are in Vesta, the main inhabited world in the Selenid System. GIS contains two sections, listed as follows:

  • Overview: your country's name, date of foundation, capital city and other key facts.

  • Government: your country's leaders, system of government and other government-related facts.

How does the Survey look like?

Click the box below to see the full template of the Survey, or click this link to see filled out examples.
