(It is the highest body of the Ministry of Health that is responsible for performing the functions concerning public health, inter-territorial coordination, high inspection, health planning, preparation and updating of the common portfolio of services of the National Health System, management of the health professions and development and execution of the pharmaceutical policy, as well as the functions related to public financing and setting the price of medicines and health products and the development of the Ministry's policy regarding the coordination of transplant policy.
Likewise, it is responsible for promoting health strategies, as well as relevant actions in the areas of food safety for human consumption, including nutrition and quality aspects with an impact on the health and safety of the food chain. , all without prejudice to the powers attributed to the Ministry of Consuer Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. It is also responsible for the development and fulfillment of the competences of the Department in terms of coordination and execution of the National Plan on Drugs, particularly in the area of ​​drug addiction and other different addictions.)
