Commonwealth to celebrate its 40th anniversary across all member states and territories.
Big celebrations planned

Commonwealth 40th Anniversary Festivities

The Commonwealth Secretariat in Glasgow, and Representative Offices in numerous Commonwealth Realms, British Overseas Territories
and protected states have released advertisement tenders and reservations at different venues. BBS has asked around, and our sources
inside the Commonwealth Secretariat has pointed out that these are for the 40th anniversary of the Commonwealth.

According to our source inside the Secretariat, the Commonwealth Commission wishes to "make the 40th anniversary unique compared to previous
anniversaries, as we lead up to the 50th year since the birth of this organisation".

The British Commonwealth was formed in the aftermath of the Falklands War in 1983, as incoherent and inconsistent American foreign policy
caused numerous British dominions to distance themselves from American dominated NATO, and the 1986 Chinese invasion of Hong Kong
forcing the Dominions to present a unified front.
Initially a mere common defence alliance, the Commonwealth has evolved into a political and economic organisation, with some saying that
its a quasi-superstate that covers 1/3rd of the globe

Students at Chinese school in Hong Kong smashes government distributed photos of Queen Elizabeth.
Police action was "overboard and unauthorised" according to Commissioner Tang of the RHKP

Hong Kong Riot China(ROC/PRC) Police Action

Post-2000s, education bodies across the Commonwealth have a tradition of distributing photos of the Monarch, currently Queen Elizabeth II
to newly formed schools, or schools that may request for them. While displaying the photo is not mandatory, it is always encouraged.
However in Hong Kong, displaying the official State Portrait of HM the Queen at all schools is mandated by law since 1986, in the aftermath
of the Sino-Anglo War.

Hence, as a new school aimed towards the children Chinese diaspora or immigrants working in Hong Kong started its operations, the Government of Hong Kong
delivered a batch of portraits of the Queen for the school to show in classrooms and offices in the school building.
The teachers and students responded by dumping all the portraits in the courtyard, vandalising them, and then proceeding to burn them along with the Union Jack.

The local police, after being informed by passerbys deployed riot units into the area, with tear gasses being lobbed into the school property, with students being violently
forced to disperse.

Public opinion is divided, but skewed towards supporting these actions by the police force. This is attributed towards xenophobia towards Mainland China that
has defined Hong Kong society ever since the 1986 war.
However, Commissioner Chris Tang of the Royal Hong Kong Police has said that the actions against the students was "overboard and unauthorised", and that
he has been "instructed by Governor Carrie Lam to cooperate fully in investigating the situation". Governor Lam has said that such "behaviour towards students
on part of the police is inexcusable" and that "it was the teachers who poisoned young minds, and got them to vandalise portraits of our Sovereign".
She has also added that she'll "bring up a motion to ban Chinese schools, and integrate the youth of the Chinese diaspora into British Hong Kong Government
run schools."
