THE TALK FROM THE OLD UPDATE... :

.

Etyangoldi Alliance (message 1 of 2):

Curufinwe Fallenstar reached The Shire, and the meeting can start.

Curufinwe first greeted the Human King and after then greeted his elvish counterpart, Cirdan.

One could see it in the air that Curufinwe was more warm towards the Human King of Arthedain, as if something was not quite right.

In another part of the realm, the mysterious party that departed from Redhorn Gate was marching in secret through Western Arthedain. Its destination is still unclear, and their operation covert.

.

Elvea-Falasse (message 1 of 4):
Cavalry recon into the Etyangoldi Alliance
The southern and northern parties had long since departed acrossed the Brandywine into the lands King Curufinwe. For the southern party the lands of Eryn Vorn where unoccupied by any nation and was quite uneventful. They had to be discreet and selective when gathering information so as not to alert the King's forces. In the lands of Minhiriath and Cardolan word was that fighting had been fierce, the humans spoke of a prideful rulership and wished to be independent again, and the few elves the rangers dared to interview had a mixed reactions of both haughty superiority and unspoken discontent with the militant ways of the Alliance, though the superiority mentality was more common. Enedhwaith proved to be more passive and accepting towards Curufinwes lordship due to better treatment and a less aggressive annexation. While the elves and men of Elvea-Falasse disliked warfare and conquest, friends both current and past had engaged in martial prowess of the same sort, and behavior of the kind was not beyond the elves of Lindon in the past. What now of the present? Though more aggressive and militant were the Etyangoldi, the elves of the expedition where annoyed at the ambivalence of the situation. This sort of limbo continued on until the parties split apart and the northern part under the expeditions leader Gwilwilether reached the foothills of the Grey Mountains. Rumor had it of a great massacre at the Redhorn Gate, where the armies of Curufinwe had slaughtered the local dwarf and orc populations alike for the acquisition of those territories, along with the usage of slaves provided by the trolls of Ettenmoor. This Gwilwilether and the lieutenants of the north party found this was the origin of the hostility between the Etyangoldi Alliance of the dwarves of the Woodland Realm, of it was said a few of the casualties where emissaries of this nation, plus a common reason for all dwarves to united for vengeance. Finally the rangers executed the final part of the plan with an unexpected turn. The southern party was ordered to ride hard to the court of the dwarf queen in Mirkwood to get in communication, while Gwilwilether and several other elves went into the minor cities of Hollin disguised as local to get word of their elven kin in the heart of Curufinwe's realm. There Gwilwilether needed information, and on the outskirts of Ost-in-Edhil she met with her local kin to hear the tale of the battle.

The Empire of Coldvar:

Emperor Nikolai throws scrolls off his desk. He slams his fist into one of the large poles holding the command tent up. The pole cracks and with a groan it buckles, causing the tent to collapse. It falls on top of him.

Soldiers start running towards the tent. But before they reach it, a large dragon picks up the cloth and tosses it aside.

Nikolai sits on the ground. He looks up at Aldira and the soldiers that are standing around him.

General Elkins comes to a sudden stop.
"Sir, are you alright?" Elkins covers his mouth.

"Fine, I just thought a little sunlight would do me some good."

Some of the soldiers started to chuckle. The Emperor's furious gaze silences all of them.

"Go." All the soldiers run back to what they were doing. General Elkins and Aldira remain.

"Sir, do you want a hand up?"

"Shut up General." Nikolai stands and brushes himself off. "These reports about mercenaries coming to our shores. I don't like it. I have been planning our attacks, and now we must wait."

Why must we wait?

"Because their forces are larger than ours. We must wait."

"For what?"

"For their first move. When they make it. I will close the walls around them."

Shouldn't we find out if they could be allies?

"No, nothing will stand in the way of the Empire's conquest."

Then befriend them. Make them our allies. Then they won't stand in your way.

"I want all of the southern part of Middle Earth. The Empire will be large and strong."

"What about the Orcs? The reports say they are marching south. They are attacking the Variag Order."

"Whatever land they take. They can keep. I would rather not piss off to many people."

Smart, but I still say to befriend these foreigners.

"We shall wait for now. I want to know what they will do. Lets move some troops around in the mean time. General how many soldiers arrived in the capital?"

"Around 1900 sir."

"Let's move a good chunk of them."

Where will they go?

"To the province of Pukel-Land."

Move 1230 soldiers from Andrast to the province of Pukel-Land

Broken Tooth Tribe (message 1 of 2):

Snicklefritz surveyed the retaken province of Nurn with a sense of frustration. He kicked a helmet, looking over the same blasted earth he had already trod on a previous offensive. “Already did this once before...” he muttered under his breath.

Being required to recapture this land was a waste of time. Many orcs lay dead on the battlefield, though the orc chieftain thought little of this. There were always more orcs to be had. But the wasted effort, the reallocation of resources, the changing of plans – these things were costly, and just to think on them raised the temperature in his veins. Snicklefritz did not like having his hand forced.

You there!” Snicklefritz grabbed the tunic of a passing orc. “Get a message to the capital.”

The unfortunate orc twisted his head round to look on his chief with wide eyes, gulping audibly. “Me, boss?”

The pointlessness of this question was answered with a cuff before the instructions continued. “Tell the army there to come down in force and attack Khand, while we’re keeping their main army busy here on their western border. Tell them to do so immediately. We’ll hit ‘em in the rear, and crush the humans between our two armies. I want these Variag to feel the error they’ve made. They are an irritating fly buzzing round my head, and I will clap my two hands together and end this irritation.”

Send 2000 of the reinforcements in Horse Plains to attack Khand

Send the remaining 900 reinforcements to fortify the army in Nurn

.

Druwaith Folk

After retaking the Foothills, Garahir recognized the fact that, for better or for worse, the Dru people are always set aside by the other factors in the world. No-one likes the Druwaith, be it because of their appearance or be it because of their lack of interest in other's affairs. At times, this was a good thing for the Dru folk; they did not trouble anyone and so were left alone. But when bad times come, when aid is required, no-one answers the call.

But that's of little importance. The Dru have their own warriors and the Dru folk can defend their realms. Moreover, the Dru folk are not easy to forget a grudge or a wrongdoing, and the Woodland Realm dwarves were caught on wrong footing. Garahir called his scout and tasked him with sending the following:

"To Barazturg,
For your people's transgressions in our realms of the Foodhills, for blood that was shed on the plains of battle, for all of our brothers and sisters that were lost defending or reclaiming our lands, we demand as tribute the Anduin Vales from you.

We will march our troops and claim the province in our name. You have one update's worth to clear the province and start the transition towards the Dru occupation. And let this be a lesson for you never to mess with the Druwaith again!"

----
Send the following to the Woodland Realm
Move all from Ithilien to Dagorlad

.

Corsairs of Umbar (message 1 of 2):

The Corsairs, under Commander Angamaith, docked along the shores of Middle Earth, at Lebennin and Harondor. While initially being called on by the Variag Order to fight as mercenaries in return for gold and other riches, the lack of leadership in Khand, Sutherland and Harondor meant that their tribute payment in gold was not settled and had to take what was owed from the easy pickings along the coastline by plundering and doing other no-good-doer deeds.

What little regard they have for others life, they in turn value their Corsairs code of conduct. One line of their code of conduct states that they do no harm without prior provocation or prior notification, and one other line in their code of conduct states that payment is received then conflict is avoided, but payment can be claimed again to continue the stay-of-hand order.

So the Corsairs sent the following messages.

To the Empire of Coldvar:
"We, the Corsairs of Umbar, humbly ask for your coin and soldiers as we have many mouths to feed back home in Umbar, and men force is scarce as well. Say, no more than two regular-sized coffers of gold coin and 600 of your finest soldiers are more than enough to estinguish the hunger in our bellies and to work the lands back home."

To the Druwaith Folk:
"We, the Corsairs of Umbar, ask from you safe travels through your lands. And safest is if we can say that your lands are ours. We believe that Ithilien is enough to secure the borders of our new-found realm in Middle Earth, and as such we ask your help and understanding. The plight of your people will not remain unanswered and we are prepared to cease future conflict, in case ever such a thing could be possible, after having our borders safe with Ithilien which, from our understanding, is yours right now."

To the Variag Oorder:
"The Corsairs of Umbar still await your payment. We have deducted from your payment the cost for Harondor but added to your payment the cost for our losses in battle. All in all, the sum that you owe to us remains the same. We urge you to pay as soon as possible, lest nefarious things could start to happen."

To the Broken Tooth Tribe:
"The Corsairs of Umbar send you this message as we believe that mutual interests have intersected our current paths. We have a liquidity problem with the Humans of the Variag Order, and we fear that they are unwilling to acquit their fair share of the burden of requesting our presence in Middle Earth. We've requested from them a sign of goodwill, if you wish, but if things go amiss, we ask of you to consider our proposal to aid in terminating the presence of the Variag Order and to execute their leader for crimes against common sense and decency."

Send the following messages to the Empire of Coldvar, to the Druwaith Folk, to the Variag Order and to the Broken Tooth Tribe

Etyangoldi Alliance (message 2 of 2):

In the realm

The towns along the coastline, in Minhiriath and Enedhwaith, look very rich and prosperous. The fields and orchards are humming with activity, with freshly dug irrigation ditches suggesting that the farmers have enough spare time and energy to expand the area under cultivation. Outside laborers appear to be flocking here to help with the work and join in the general prosperity. The annexation by the Etyangoldi Alliance either did not disrupt the trade and the general state of well-being, or it actively improved it.

The towns and villages in the inland provinces of the Etyangoldi Alliance seem unremarkable. The fields and orchards are busy, with villagers engaged in the tasks of the seasons. Humans, elves and animals alike look relatively healthy and well-fed. However, a small number of the outermost fields are left unsewn, and some walls are in ill repair, suggesting that there are still not quite enough hands to do all the work which needs to be done, and that most of the interest of the Etyangoldi Alliance turned to the other provinces or to the borders.

In the province of Dunland, the towns and villages appear to be somewhat poor and struggling. In the past, the region was famous for being fertile and prosperious, but nowadays, either due to the lack of interest from the Etyangoldi Alliance or due to migration out from the region, it is now sparsely inhabited. There are dark rumors that say that a large portion of the population was forcefully relocated to the mines of Redhorn Gate, as workers, but no-one is willing to talk about this.

In Hollin, the towns and villages are opulent and crowded with well-to-do people. The walls, streets and homes are well-maintained. The markets are thronged with migrants from the nearby regions drawn here by the availability of both goods and work. The rhythm of hammers and looms peak to the business of the artisans' workshops.

In Redhorn Gate, the area is highly guarded and the roads to cross to the other side of the mountain are closed. There was a big battle here in the recent past, where the dwarves of the Woodland Realm engaged with the soldiers of the Etyangoldi, and precautionary measures are now put in place. Movement in and out of the province is barred or restricted, at best. From a distance one could see human slaves toiling in the mines in anguish and extremely harsh conditions, and one could also see batches of bright material being shipped off to the workshops of Hollin.

The general feeling from the people under the rule of the Etyangoldi Alliance is of content and satisfaction in their ruler's leadership. Except those in Dunland, many have seen improvements in the quality of life but there's a dreaded feeling that some that were vocal against the changes have either disappeared or had to reallocate to other realms, not to be heard from again. The population is not acceptive of strangers, and generally avoids direct eye contact for fear of being tipped off and incurring retribution from the Etyangoldi Guards that are fast to answer any distress call.

At the meeting in The Shire
Curufinwe started to discuss about the matters of the realm with his two equals.

The issues for Curufinwe are simple; the Dwarves of Woodland Realm attacked the Redhorn Gate, a territory they never had claim of prior to the annexation by the Etyangoldi, and their allies attacked the Trollshaw Realm, instigating a war on two fronts against Etyangoldi Alliance and their friends.

Curufinwe expects that his ally, the elf-king of Lindon, renounces the alliance with the dwarves. In return, Curufinwe stopped the aggression against the humans of the Kingdom of Arthedain.

"King Amlaith Minyatur, I call you my friend. Here, with King Cirdan present, I must tell you that I understand your frustration with all the demands of the people of your realm. We in the Etyangoldi Alliance suffered the same for many years, discontent and disparity in culture between the different places of our vast realm.

But I have a gift for you. You may or may not know that I am more than a great warrior, a great leader and a great friend. I have also an exquisite taste for crafts and am an excellent smith. To cement our new relation into everlasting, I present to you my finest creation, from the mines of the Redhorn Gate and shaped by my own two hands ... this ring is for you, if you so accept it", while presenting a shiny golden ring with glimmering striations on the sides. "Wear it, and I guarantee to you that your lust for understanding and peace among the cultures in your land will be as everlasting as our friendship. Or, at least, your hand will be as swift as mine and you shall cow even the most rebellious factions, and they will fear you and will fear the power you will begin to have."

Deep in the Kingdom of Arthedain's territory
The covert party that the Etyangoldi Alliance sent a while ago has successfully traversed the province of Western Arthedain and is now in Numeriador. They are marching to what appears to be a crossing into the Blue Mountains, but in a very careful and thought manner. They appear to have procured clothing that is similar to that used by the fair elves in Northern Lindon, under which they hide their armor and weapons. They now look and act like merchants from the Elvea-Falasse, and the dwarves of the Clan Frostbeard are certainly no wiser to detect otherwise when crossing from Numeriador into the Blue Mountains.

----
The populations of the provinces of the Etyangoldi Alliance are reticent to talk with the elves of the Elvea-Falasse, and certainly those so close to the capitol are even less willing to talk. There is a fear for persecution. No-one wants to have to pay a visit to Redhorn Gate, a place from where none comes back.

At the meeting, King Curufinwe offers a ring set to increase the wielder's powers to the king of the Kingdom of Arthedain.

At the meeting, King Curufinwe awaits answers from other parties, regarding the Etyangoldi Alliance problems with the dwarves.

.

The Woodland Realm

The dwarves of the Woodland Realm appear not to catch a break any more. After defeat and defeat, the voice of queen Barazturg dimmed and that of other factions have increased. There's a general feeling of tension in the air, and Barazturg is resorting to acts of violence against some nobles that are eyeing her throne, framing the generals with low loyalty towards her with treason.

A civil war in the realms of Mirwood is almost guaranteed to erupt, if Barazturg doesn't keep in check those with envy towards the throne.

In these times, the messenger from the Druwaith Folk couldn't have picked a worse moment to arrive. The piling of discontent in the courtroom adds to the injury and shame that the dwarves that've returned from the lost battle at Foothills, and the request for Anduin Vales as tribute is certainly going to seal the fate of the Queen, no matter how many more she frames or disposes of.

The queen was also unsure as to how her allies stand. She sent a messenger to the Defender's Fjord:
"King Alexius Comnenus, I've received no news from you regarding the conquest of Gundabad. Have you been successful? If yes, know that we need your assistance in securing Anduin Vales, as the humans of the Druwaith Folk want to march towards it. This might mean you entering a new conflict if you agree to help your brothers and sisters of Mirkwood, so that is why I hope you've finalized your dealings in Gundabad successfully."

And, finally, Elves have reached the halls of Queen Barazturg. Elves not from the Etyangoldi Alliance but from an even more distant realm. They call themselves part of the Elvea-Falasse, and the queen recognized them as the allies of her dwarf-friends of the Clan Frostbeard.

The queen invited them to a private meeting, safe from the prying eyes of disbelievers or other envious characters from the court.
"What can the Woodland Realm do for you, emissary? You've traveled quite a long way, and must have a good story to tell."

----
Send the above message to the Defender's Fjord, asking for help against Druwaith Folk
Send the above message to the Elvea-Falasse, asking what is the reason for the visit

.

Elvea-Falasse (message 2 of 4):

In the residence of Queen Barazturg
Your hospitality is beyond refreshing! And oh yes my Queen, we have tales to tell, that doesn't even begin to describe how dense the things we have to tell you are. I would like to introduce myself and my men, my name is Belegroch, and I'm a lieutenant in the cavalry of Elvea-Falasse, and we are elements from the southern detachment that was sent to investigate the Etyangoldi Alliance, which we understand you are at war with over the massacre at the Redhorn Gate, which your kin and some citizenry were killed in. We are good friends of your northwesterly kin, and we have been for many moons now. Elvea-Falasse and the Etyangoldi Alliance are seemly the only elven nations in this part of Middle Earth, so when King Curufinwe extended his hand in friendship, my nation accepted. We where unaware of his evildoings please keep in mind. However soon a human king named Minyatur arose in Eriador, he may perhaps be descended from the kings of Gondor and Arnor. He gathered the Edain and the hobbits in oppostion to King Curufinwe declaring the elf's evil. My nation tries to be peaceful, and we didn't have all the facts. Thus my lord Cirdan, Minyatur and Curufinwe arranged a congress to negotiate peace, and Elvea-Falasse rangers were sent into Curufinwe's realm to get all the facts. My captain Gwilwilether and her party went to the foothills around the Redhorn Gate, and my party went to the Isen River. In this time however we confirmed Curufinwe's evil, and out of necessity my company rode to your realm, and my captain returned to Elvea-Falasse to warn Cirdan. In Curufinwe's realm lips where tight, but my captains men saw from afar the slaves toil in the strip mines, and the mass graves and unburied dwarfs and orcs. The fact that Curufinwe drags away desenters to never be scene again. He has commited great evils, and perverts the minds of my elven kin.

I understand your kingdom is in upheaval, we must prevent this. I know not of your nations workings, nor are we familiar with you allies in the Iron Hills, only my Lord Dralvik II. I can smell the machinations of Curufinwe from afar and me must act quickly, unfortunately the need for sound war strategy cannot be understood with the rebellious of your court. Take my advice if you will, your are the sovereign, I understand you are at arms with the Etyangoldi Alliance and Druwaith's folk and Druwaiths folk denied you access to Curufinwe and thus you attacked, now they demand Anduin as retribution. If I where you I'd ask for peace, I'll help afficiate if you'd like, and if need be give the lands the demand to them, my assessment as a man of arms thinks you could defend against them, however campaign awaits in the west. This would allow you to breakthrough at Durin's mountain and join up with Elvea-Falasse and the Frostbeard Clan. This would also give you a buffer between you and the trolls of Ettenmoor, of whom are allies of Curufinwe.

As for the upheaval in your realm, tell your people of the threat in the west and the need for domestic unity. If people yet rebel against your rule, I'd banish them to the livable north slopes of the Grey Mountains within the Forodwaith and provide them with the necessary shelter and provisions, execution is wrong and not a moral thing. Myself and all of my company will swear an oath of custodianship for your protection whatever action you choose. Eru and all the Valar bring wrath against us if we be unloyal.

My last advice will be the most shocking to you, I'd advise a temperary end of hostilities between you and the Etyangoldi Alliance. It prevents the full marshaling of King Minyaturs forces against King Curufinwe, which will probably be the main theatre. When the battle is won the ancestral dwarf realms of Moria will be returned to dwarf hands. However if King Curufinwe is taken alive which is what I can assure you will be the hope in Lindon, we'd like to see him either sent to Valinor to be judged by the Valar, amongst them will be you representatives Aule and Yavanna, who are aware of the evils he commited against your kin, or to be exiled to the northern Blue Mountains controlled by the Frostbeard Clan, there he will repent and learn the value of life and the meaning of friendship.

I await your decision my queen, the minions of Curufinwe must be afoot and are a crafty *long string of Sindarin curses* bunch. Picking up his helmet he says "I'll prepare my men for the oath." Long live the dwarf queen in Mirkwood!

.

Elvea-Falasse (message 3 of 4):

Congress in Michel Delving
King Curufinwe flashed his ring to King Minyatur, immediately Cirdan had to suppress the reflex of a raised eyebrow. Gannoriel on the other hand, while not nearly as old as Cirdan, was much more in tune with the arcane and what some called 'magic', and she could feel the darkness eminating from the ring, and could hear its tempting and scornful whispers. Actively suppressing the desire to spit at Curufinwe, she nudged Cirdan. They had been friends for several millennia, and certainly a time such as this was no place for miscommunication. King Minyatur was King of the Dunedain and Hobbits, and was a son of Elros, surely he must know of the times when Sauron crafted the Rings of Power and turned the nine kings of men into disembodied willless wraiths of darkness. However Elvea-Falasse's party could take no chance, so Cirdan ordered the chief attendent, who was keen to the guise of the ring, to have a Arthedain soldier seek Minyatur's attention. Thus an Arthedain soldier came in to inform him he was needed outside momentarily. It was then that he was warned by the attendant of the dangerous of the ring presented by Curufinwe. The three parties continued to discuss until one of Cirdan's attendents alerted Cirdan of news back home in Lindon, and thus Cirdan excused himself.

.

Broken Tooth Tribe (message 2 of 2):

Not long after the messenger to the north had departed, calling on the reinforcements in the capitol to drive south and open a second front in this campaign against the Variag, another messenger arrives to the main tent where the chieftain was locked in discussion with some of his scouts.

A messenger from the west, boss. Human. Says he’s word for you. We’ve got him waiting outside the camp.”

From the Variag?” asked Snicklefritz.

No, boss.” responds the orc messenger.

From Coldvar, then?”

“’fraid not, boss. Says he’s a corsair. Says there’s a new power in Harondor and further west.”

Snicklefritz cocked an eyebrow to his scout, questioningly.

Well, I just come from there. And it was just more humans. More ships off the coast than usual, but it was more of the same. Humans is humans.” The scout gnawed on a bone, as if disdainful of this line of questioning.

Snicklefritz took the message and read it over. “They call themselves ‘corsairs’. That’s just a fancy word for ‘pirate’. And ‘pirate’ is just a fancy word for a bandit that happens to work the seas. They make pretense to honor, but they follow the smell of gold like all bandits. Follow it like dogs.”

The scout grunted an appreciative laugh, before taking the message to look over himself.

But this is welcome news,” continued Snicklefritz. “The Variag now have a hostile force on the other side of their capitol. And here we stand on this side, while the army from the north moves on their rear flank.”

Umbar,” remarked the scout, handing the message back. “Mannish. Far to the south. Far.” He gave a shrug before going back to gnawing on his bone.

Snicklefritz turned the message over and began to scrawl a message on the back:

"The Variag are like vermin. They will bite as soon as you turn your back on them, and will take any opportunity to betray. Make no mistake – we move on them as these words are being scratched to parchment. And I have every intention of executing their foolish leader. But I would welcome your involvement in this campaign to punish the Variag. And you and your fellow corsairs would be welcome to whatever spoils you can carry back to your ships. I am only interested in their blood."

.

Kingdom of Arthedain:

Outside the tent, at the meeting
King Minyatur listened to the message covertly sent by Cirdan. A slight worry came on his face, from listening the news that was relayed to him.
"Talk of magic is just something that is said to scare the kids into an early bedtime. All of these are just stories and fairytales of the past. I remember my grandparents talking about the mighty story of the ring, but that was a great and evil sorcerer that lived for many centuries next to Morgoth himself.

King Curufinwe's evil, but not evil at that scale. From where would he find the powers to fabricate such a ring? No, it must be that king Cirdan is just jealous on me and on my gift, as he received nothing from the elf. Next he'll tell me that Curufinwe's actually Sauron reincarnated or other nonsense like that dragons do exist.

So tell king Cirdan this; I thank him for his warning, we will be careful. However, it would be rude not to accept this gift at this time, or the elf will think that something's wrong. But talk of magic is perhaps out of place. We sense nothing wrong in the ring. Actually, to be fair, we did sense that you're jealous on the ring. Maybe you want it for yourself, from me. Do you want it for yourself, king Cirdan?"

Elvea-Falasse (message 4 of 4):

On the outskirts of Michel Delving Gwilwilether stood exhausted from riding and wiery from the time spend in Etyangoldi lands. The attendant alerted Cirdan that he was needed momentarily for matters in Lindon. There Gwiliwilether told them the findings of the rangers in Etyangoldi. She spoke of the even handed If absolute rule of Curufinwe in the countryside, of the mysterious damage or lack of use of infrastructure. More pressing was spotting of slaves in the strip mines, the restriction of travel within the realm, the disappearance of those that spoke against Curufinwe, and most all the mass graves and unburied remains of orcs and dwarfs. Cirdan's heart grew sad, and for the first time in a long while he felt anger.

Later that evening he sent word to Minyatur and spoke with him on the findings of the rangers,
"King Minyatur, I know that these times have been difficult for you. I well know that indignation in your heart. The scouts bring reports of slavery and mass slaughter in the east, and restriction of travel and repression of though throughout the realm. I apologize for Elvea-Falasse's caution, but we couldn't campaign against anyone without cause or reason. We have an opportunity to encircle Curufinwe here at Michel Delving and apprehend him with an attack against North Cardolan. However we still await word from the dwarf queen of Mirkwood, on whether she will allow the full martialling of your forces against Curufinwe. With your capital in reach if Curufinwe, the encirclement at North Cardolan, and the need of our combined strength to take Hollin, there is much we need to discuss. However this is what I propose: to stall with Curufinwe in the Shire until word reaches us if we can martial your full force. If Curufinwe departs from your lands before we have word from the dwarf queen, it may be necessary to apprehend Curufinwe with an attack on North Cardolan and hold defensive positions. My heart is heavy, and my soul burdened. As for the matter of the ring I apologize, the times where jewels of sorcery and dark magic speead are very much true. I once possessed one of the three elven rings made by Celebrimbor, thus free of Sauron's corruption, and I can personally attest to the existance of dark powers beyond the comprehension of our time. Rings in general are quite a sour thing amongst my people for that reason. I have no desire for Curufinwes ring, but be warned: the powers Curufinwe says are granted by the ring are a testament to the existance of otherworld forces, and even if he wasn't a prospective enemy, gifts granted so easily often exact a heavy price. Dont loose your wits. What do think my King?"

The Defender's Fjord

King Alexius was pacing anxiously outside his tent when the rider returned. "What did Dralvik say?" The King asked. "He called off the attack", the rider replied. "That's a relief. Dismissed." The rider jumped off his horse, led it to the stables, and sauntered off. "We will attack once Dralvik informs us he is ready." The King says to himself. "Meanwhile, we will bring our reinforcements here, and then-", the King was cut off mid-sentence, by a dwarf covered in brown and green. "My Lord-" the dwarf started, but the King interjected, "Have you no manners? I am the King of this realm, and for you to interrupt my thoughts is downright insulting!" The dwarf was at a loss for words for a few moments, then he piped up, "My sincerest apologies, my Lord, I had no intention to anger you. I come with a message from Queen Barazturg. The Druwaith are marching on Anduin Vales in retaliation for her attack on them. She is requesting you send her reinforcements to help her quell this threat." The dwarf finished and stood there, waiting for a response. "General?" The King called, "How many reinforcements have we received?" The general replied, "840, sir." "Very well", The King replied. "Dwarf, tell your Queen we are sending her 840 dwarves her way." The dwarf bowed and headed out.

The Empire of Coldvar:

The Emperor watches as his soldiers train. Thousands of swords crash and the ring of metal floats through the air.

"They are doing well, sir."

"Good, we need to be ready for anything. The dwarves in the north are striking alliances together. They are fighting together. We must be at peak shape."

"What shall we do about the Corsairs?"

"They will need to make the fist move. I want to ----"

A messenger runs up to Nikolai, he bows and holds out a scroll. The Emperor takes it and dismisses the man.

General Elkins stands next to Nikolai.

"It seems the Corsairs are looking for a bargain. They want coin and soldiers."

"Soldiers? I can understand the coin, but why do they want soldiers. If they came to fight with the order. They should have soldiers."

"I'll write a message back to them. Inquiring about why they want 600 soldiers."

A large shadow covers the field where the soldiers are fighting. The ground shudders as a dragon lands.

Nikolai, I flew to the border of the Umbar. They have a large amount of soldiers.

"We just received a message from them. They want coins and soldiers. I'm about to send a message back."

I thought you did not want them as allies.

"They would not be allies. They would work for me. I'll pay them to crush people for me. Then when they stretched their forces too far. I will crush them."

"Seems a bit adventurous, sir. We could work with them."

"We will work with them. Only to a certain point. Now, I must write a message."

The Emperor walked back to the command tent, with Aldira in tow.

To the Corsairs of Umbar:
"I'm intrigued with your bargain. Why do you want soldiers from us? You have plenty of your own. How about I make a deal with you. The Empire shall supply you with 10 regular-sized coffers of gold. For you will work for us."

---------------------------------------------------------------

Send a message to the Corsairs of Umbar

.

Corsairs of Umbar (message 2 of 2):

The Commander Angamaith of the Corsairs received the messages from the Broken Tooth Tribe and from the Empire of Coldvar.

Prior to answering and confirming the deal with the Broken Tooth Tribe, Angamaith had to wait for an answer from the Variag Order. There was still time on the clock for the ultimatum.

As to the answer to the Empire of Coldvar, things were simpler.
"Emperor Nikolai, thank you for your words. They are most encouraging. Knowing that you have so much gold to spare. As for soldiers, I ask you how do you think we have amassed such large armies? We politely asked for manpower from those that have manpower to spare. You know how things are, in war more men die, things get messy, then there are war reparation costs, and all of that is avoided so easily when two rulers agree from the pen for some soldiers to switch sides. You can imagine, a mess avoided just by the stroke of the pen?

Now I would never dare to assume that you're all for conflict with the Corsairs, as you very well put it that you want to hire us to work for you. Now that sounds like a good deal to talk about, as we're more than eager to work for you! Yes, yes, we know that the Empire of Coldvar is quite rich in coin. So we can't wait for you to tell us who upsets you, we collect the coin, and then we have a nice discussion with the target.

But we already have proposed a deal and I fear that I can't modify the terms of that deal. You see, we have something here in our 'rulebook', a set of rules we Corsairs follow. And it says right here, on page ... ah, yes, on page 4, that all deals the Corsairs propose are non-negociable. So, know what? After we finalize our first deal we can discuss again for the second. You will tell us your terms, your targets, and we tell you our cost.

We await for the confirmation of our first agreement. The bellies need filling and the trainers are eager to train your soldiers in the Umbar arts of war"

----
Send the above message to the Empire of Coldvar. The second deal can be proposed at a later time, after the first deal is accepted.

Clan Frostbeard:

In Angmar the wind whipped tents on the sleds with great fury, it was almost as if it were the work of a spell.

“Baldur, do we have any news from the reinforcements? Where are the King Auxitius’s messengers? Do they’ve got their reinforcements?”, the voice of Dralvik fadded in the wind.

"No cousin, we do not have any word for Defender's Fjord. Weird is'n t it? Although they might have some truble getting pass the orcs and bring any news...", Baldur said while pointing to the great open valley in front of them: "We do not know if they got attack either and we are settle here and we'll just froze to dead..."

Dralvik frowned and said: "Well if they don't take the lead I will... Send a goat-rider towards them and see what is happening, I will not let my people dead frozen for a misguided order".

"Right away!", Baldur said and point a dwarf and then signend a goat ready to mount, the dwarf noddled mounted on the goat and rided towards the Defender's Fjord camp.

"What about Nrulvim? Did he musterd the Iron-Breakers in Forochel?", Dralvik asked.

"Aye! we have word from the Blue Mountains Nrulvim have sent the Iron-Breakers in Forochel ready to march", Baldur responded.

Dralvik took his journal out and said: "Well at least Nrulvim fulfills his word...", as he passed on the pages he stoped on a note in Emyn Uial: "Baldur, do we know anyting about the trolls forces? Beacuse if my notes are correct we need to reinforce our borders, The Forochel Division is at Emyn Uial, but they are just a garrison not elite troops. They can't defend agaisnt the trolls heavy troops that we witness in Angmar... It all depends that that messanger make it to the camp and see what King Auxitius's situation is in order to move our forces...Baldur go to Forochel you will command the Iron-Breakers, await for my orther, we might have to split the forces and do send word to the scouts in Emyn Uial to do their work and send any news."

"Will do!", Baldur said and then continued: "How are your wounds?".

"They are healing, i will fight from a sled if I have to defend my peolple!", Dralvik responded: "That remains me send another goat-rider to Barazturg, let's see how the South is doing?"

Baldur smiled and said: "I'm glad your spirit is not wounded, cousin".
